The KC Royals host the Minnesota Twins at Kauffman Stadium.

I'll be there continuing this expensive ruse that I actually like baseball.

Home run in his first at bat.

Becomes the 3rd teenager to accomplish that feat.

And with that home run, Profar moves into the all time # 3 spot on the list of career homers by players from Willemstad, Curaçao, a tiny Caribbean island of just 140,000 people in the Netherlands Antilles. # 1 on the list is Andruw Jones with 433. # 2 is Wladimir Balentien who managed 15 homers for the Mariners before taking his career to Japan.

Also hailing from Willemstad is Braves starter Jair Jurrjens.

That ain't bad for a town of 140,000 souls, perhaps they are aiming to be the Dutch answer to San Pedro de Marcoris.

That's about the same population as Syracuse, New York, where 27 MLB playes were born. Steubenville, Ohio, is the birth place of 14 MLB players, with only 18,000 souls, just 30 miles upriver from Wheeling West Virginia, with 28,000 people and 15 MLBers.

In fact, Willemstad has just caught up with Shiner, Texas (pop. 1,728), with four, including a Hall of Famer (Ross Youngs), and not even counting Logan Ondrusek, who was born in the next town over but grew up in Shiner.

Willemstad has out homered Shiner 448 to 44.

Wilemstad's staff is 52-35, 3.48 ERA
Shiner's hurlers are 23-28, 4.19 ERA

And Shiner had almost a century head start on Wilemstad.

So there, take that.

The A's downed Boston 6-2 this afternoon to complete a three game sweep, the A's 9th consecutive win and 15th in their last 17 games. Oakland outscored the Red Sox 33-5.

The A's are now tied with the Yankees for the second best record in the American League.

All the injuries are finally taking their toll on the Yankees. Don't be surprised if they return from this 7-game road trip in third place.

Shiner has a HoFer.

You overlooked a number of points in your favor -- such as, Willemstad has had ten players in MLB, hitting 534 homers. Three more (with 3 homers) from other towns on the island.

Nevertheless, even counting all the years of head-start, consider that there have been about 8,000 different people residing in Shiner in the past 100 years, and 5 of them have played MLB, which is one out of 1,300 random people on the street who did or will play MLB. For Willemstad, it is maybe 180,000 since 1970, with ten in MLB, which is only one out of 18,000. Shnier's favor, by a factor of about 15.
