they've lost a quarter of their games so far due to no bullpen support....or bad defense or both....went into the bottom of the 11th last night and blew the game vs Orioles.

Makes me want to puke.

We went last night. Whopping 4400 fans in attendance.
We had fun thanks in part to free tickets and the fans around us who were entertaining
As for the Rays, they looked good the first five innings or so.....

Too bad MLB isn't like Little League where games are only 6 innings long.

Yeah. The team ran out of gas quickly.

I was Hoping for a home team Rays win. The BlueJays Had about a thousand or so fans there. They were loud enough to make their team feel like a home game..

I love baseball. Always have even though I sucked at playing it. It was still fun to try. And dream.
As for favorite team, I don't really have one. Not like football where I am passionate about my Finz.... my passion is about the game of baseball, not a certain team.
We usually go to minor league games as they are less expensive and more personable than MLB.
The thing about the Rays is that Tropicana Field SUX !
Whoever designed it knew nothing about baseball. I attended a few hockey games there and the carnival atmosphere was fun. But in spite of renovations, new shops, concessions, beer sections.....the venue sucks for baseball. And the attendance is awful because most people in Tampa don't want to make that drive to st Pete to see a game in that place. And who would blame them ?

I have been fortunate enough to have had a career that allowed me to be on the road for months on end whenever I wanted. I have worked and travelled all over this greatest of great nations. I have seen a lot of baseball. I have been to games in places that no longer exist, like old Yankee stadium, The Astrodome in Houston and the Texas Rangers old Arlington stadium, which had a pure trailer trash atmosphere. I have never been to Oakland, but of the places I have visited, the Trop is by far the worst venue. Not the worst fans, In fact we were surrounded by fun people, common though for Tampa. But it is an awful place to try to see a game. Not many good seats, ticket prices too high (although ours were free) and $14 is too much for a crummy mixed drink. And for some reason several people were removed from the game. Not sure why, but apparently whatever rules they have, they take seriously. They ought to be careful about removing what few fans they have.

Lot of Canadians left their country to live here.

The sound you heard pales in comparison to NYY and Bosox games - lots of transplants live here and refuse to support the home team.

The Oakland Coliseum is not nearly as bad as people like to pretend. It was quite a pretty park until they built Mount Davis and wrecked the view of the mountains to the east. Public transportation and parking are fairly decent, views are good, bathrooms are adequate.

The problem with the Coliseum is that it does not have all the luxury sections and seats which are such huge revenue generators for clubs. Building a new stadium would be to correct this, which doesn't mean much to the average fan apart from the seats that they can afford being even further away from the field...and of course all prices jacked way up since it is a new stadium and all.

Trop is comfortable and tickets are cheap. A brand new stadium may draw a few good crowds in the first season (see Marlins' experience there)......this market isn't necessarily a huge baseball town. Lots of old people, poor people, not many businesses (ie megacorps) and no mass transit like most of the other cities.....and the stadium is in a poor location.

But attending the game at the Trop - is a comfortable experience. I've been going to about 20 games a season since I moved here 7 yrs ago.....
