Join us in congratulating Alex Colomé!
He will finish the season as the first reliever in Rays history to lead the majors in saves.

I can see that. However, every year of new players with other teams' retreads isnt exactly exciting me either...

Some thoughts on 2018. We know that Cobb will sign elsewhere and that Duda was just a rental.

Morrison - I like his defense and his .353 OBP and 38 homers were great, obviously. But he only cost the Rays $2.5mil this year. Seems like every team out there except the Rays would pay him $10mil/year or more. Maybe he'll take less to play for the one place he's excelled? He shouldn't, but if we're lucky he will.

Hechavarria is up for arbitration and should stay. I've never seen a sweeter right arm at SS than his (on any team, in 40+ years). His offense is weak but if it was any better, the Rays wouldn't have been able to afford him in the first place. I'll take his defense and attitude any day of the week.

I'd like to see Souza go but I doubt I'll get my wish. Arbitration year with 30 homers won't be cheap.

Dickerson has better numbers and attitude and is also up for arb. I hope he stays.

Mallex Smith is a keeper for sure, still making league min.

Kiermaier is locked in cheap for six more years thankfully. He's not going anywhere.

Ramos is ours through 2018 which I like. He finished strong hitting .316 with 5 homers in September.

Longoria will stay making $13mil in 2018 though I wouldn't mind seeing him traded for a pitcher and a small army worth of prospects.

Plouffe is a free agent and shouldn't be resigned.

Robertson is a cheaper option and just as versatile.

Brad Miller lost his power but should stay. Getting 20 homers out of him next year would be doable.

Sucre is a nice #2 catcher that will stay.

Colome was very lucky this season but still worth keeping in an arb year.

Archer is locked in cheap for a while and will stay.

Odorizzi is arb eligible and will stay.

Same with Snell

Who knows on everyone else. The team will have to get lucky with a cheap starting pitcher on a rebuild year plus some AAA help to contend. Everyone mentioned above will be getting a raise but Stu has said the payroll will go down. Cobb only made $4mil so I'm not sure who's salary they can dump. Longo is the only candidate....

Rays shaking up their coaching roster early...Montoya takes over for Foley who'll leave the dugout for another job. Hickey is leaving as Kyle Snyder is called up from Durham to be the pitching coach for the Rays in 2018.
