That six run lead TB blew in the ninth Fri night vs the Jays effectively ended one little playoff hopes the Rays had left. That was a terrible loss

They aren't dead yet. If they win their remaining seven games while Oakland loses their final six, they have a wild card spot.

If they had won on Friday night, and go on to win all of their final games, the A's would still frustrate them by winning two of their final six. It was already a long, long shot, Friday simply made it a bit longer.

Very true, but in the position they are in, that was simply one you cannot afford to give away. They did make an already uphill climb a bit steeper...

Oakland and Atlanta were both expected to be improved, but the window of next contention was thought to be another year away. Tampa Bay was thought to have gutted itself and would need three years of Astro style rebuilding to return to contention, and instead they stayed in the race until the final week. Theirs may be the best achievement of the three.

I have to admit, they've played way better than I thought they would. 90 wins? Quite the achievement for this group.

Snell for Cy Young?

The Rays used 23 rookies this year. They also played .700 ball the last quarter of the season. Things are looking good for 2019.

Especially grateful to have Tommy Pham onboard who put up Betts-like offensive numbers in his 39 games here. The infield and outfield are already set and there will be plenty of funds to add to the pitching staff. I wouldnt expect Romo or Gomez to come back.

With all of the attention on Snell, not many noticed that Yarbrough had16 wins himself.

5-1 so far, and looking good. Hopefully the Rays will stay first place in the AL East.

Hope for the Rays should be way up with the Yankees having this much trouble so early. The Red Sox aren't doing so hot either. I'd love to see a 20 win March/April to start the year.

Does anyone think the Rays and Marlins should switch leagues?
