I can see him going places next season. Ditto for Cosart, Keuchel, and Peacock. You should be encouraged.

Very funny, Grandstander. He'll be with the Astros next season. He's been one of their top 15 prospects for some time and he's earned his due. So far, he's playing well. What I referred to was him being successful as a starter, just like the other folks I mentioned. We've jettisoned out pretty much all the guys we needed to in order to make room for prospects like Oberholtzer. There won't be a fire sale next season.

Holy grits!! Another Houston catcher goes down with injury. And not one you'd like to have down, either.

Let's just hope it's not real serious.

^^^^ Hey, very nice!

Speaking of nice, that was a nice late-inning win by the 'Stros last night against the Twins. It's on to Oakland tonight for a weekend showdown with the A's. Since Houston's played better on the road, we'll see if they can make a little noise against Oakland.

Astros are continuing to own the Angels this season (well, sort of, at 10-7 against them in '13) . Another Houston win last night gives them a 4-game winning streak going into tonight.

OK, so the Astros have two more games to play and they've already set a new franchise record for losses at 109 (and could become as much as 111). Tonight will be worth watching and listening. It's Clemens against Pettitte at Minute Maid against the Yankees.

That would be Paul Clemens taking the mound for Houston tonight in Andy Pettitte's final major league start. It will be kind of emotional for Pettitte, since it will take place in his hometown.

Offensively, the 'Stros have struggled lately. The good news is, they are closer to finding out where the real needs of the club will be going into next season. Many of the current starters are expected to be in next year's lineup. I'm not expecting to see Brandon Barnes, Erik Bedard, or Trevor Crowe in an Astro uniform next season. Don't be surprised if they look outside for an offseason acquisition or two (most likely a relief pitcher). Next spring, we will see Jon Singleton and George Springer making bids at first base and center field, respectively, with the big league club. They'll need bullpen help, but their rotation should be in real good shape with more prospects waiting in the wings.

Oh, and Houston gets the number one pick again in next year's draft.

I saw that the 'Stros got Dexter Fowler (a one-time Astro killer in Colorado). And Chad Qualls is coming back. Didn't see that one coming.
