It really hurt to finish in 2nd at the last minute. The media was foaming about Mike Trout and the Angels. The All-Star pre-game said very little about the Astros suprising first half.

Astros begin the so-called second half against the Rangers in Houston. There's a six-game losing streak that Houston must have end. This will be a test to see how good the Astros really are and where their mettle is. Hopefully, it will be a good series.

So far, nice second-half start for the 'Stros, who had a squeaker of a victory, 3-2 over the Rangers.

If we can get Carter back, Springer back and add another decent starter, this team can really do something!

The Astros take their winning ways to Kansas City for the weekend. Great finish to the just-completed homestand, where they just swept the Red Sox. It looked, last night, like they weren't going to get the win, but Jose Altuve provided some walk-off excitement in the ninth.

Congrats to Craig Biggio on his Hall of Fame induction!

^^^ Yeah, Biggio showed lots of class at the induction ceremony. Well done!

Speaking of well done, the Astros just finished a sweep of the Angels, and the homestand continues with the D-Backs this weekend. And they just got Carlos Gomez from the Brewers, too (not to mention getting Scott Kazmir, who has pitched shutout ball in his two Astro starts).

Good things are happening!

I feel that the Astros will win the AL West. That said I am still not so sure on a WS run unless the team becomes more consistent. Sometimes your team wins and can beat any team in baseball and other times they just lose 7-8 in a row. I don't think this year unless they can become more consistent.

I believe they can get the West, but from there, they would eventually have to face Kansas City (who, like Houston, has just made some upgrades before the trade deadline). They may be the only team potentially keeping them from the World Series. Hypothetically speaking, I am confident that the Astros can beat the Yankees if the playoffs occurred today.

Good series against the D-Backs which the Astros are trying to win. Great pitching yesterday and today, and the offense is clicking.
