Astros have home field for the ALCS. We've got the Yankees now. Stay tuned; it's going to be fun!

What an amazing finish to today's game....Astro's win 2-1 on a walkoff double by Correa that scored Altuve from first base as Yankee catcher Sanchez bobbled the ball at home plate where the play would've been very close.

It's pretty rare to see a complete game by a pitcher these days. In a post-game interview, Verlander said that if it had been necessary, he would have been ready to take the mound in the 10th inning.

Not that he had to do it, as events transpired, but when was the last time you saw the starting pitcher pitch nine innings, then take the mound in the 10th? That's the kind of thing that Cy Young, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson might have done. It's an exceedingly rare occurrence these days, to be sure.

Today, he was throwing 95-96 mph in the first inning, and was throwing 97 mph in the 9th.

Justin Verlander sure doesn't look to be "over the hill" from where I'm standing.

Verlander has regained lost velocity.
Average fastball speed
2009 - 96.3
2010 - 96.1
2011 - 95.6
2012 - 95.0
2013 - 94.4
2014 - 93.3
2015 - 93.6
2016 - 94.3
2017 - 95.6

That 95.6 was the same velocity as he had in 2011 when he won the Cy Young and MVP awards.

Astros will need to get their offense going in Game 5. We'll have Keuchel on the mound, but Houston needs to get back to scoring runs and jumping on teams early. And they will need to get the Yankees down early, and they're perfectly capable of doing it at Yankee Stadium. This game is very, very crucial.

Jack Morris pitched ten shutout innings for the Twins in game 7 of the 1991 World Series. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the last time a starter went into extra innings in the postseason.

Well, Houston has their backs to the wall. This could have been avoided if the Astros had just taken care of business in Game 4. Now, the pressure is on them to win not one, but two games at home while battling a series-long offensive funk.

They'll need to "earn it" tonight....

The Astros will have to carry the better at bats into game 7 and get to CC early posting runs.

Oh and don't throw one middle up to Judge mmkay?

Great game tonight to force a game 7 tomorrow night which I'm looking forward to, especially an Astro's win.

It would be great if Reddick gets the game winning RBI tomorrow, he's 0 for 21 so far against the Yankees.
