They are so far ahead in the division that they probably didn't take the Reds or Pirates seriously enough. And I know the record isn't good, but the Reds & Pirates aren't bad teams by any stretch, they are actually quite good no matter what the record says, they just play in the wrong division, and you can't take them lightly. Josh Bell for Pitt is a legit MVP candidate.

Default Houston Now 55-32

The Good Guys just swept the Rockies in two. Time for some more home cooking. We get the Angels on Friday night.

Astros begin the second half against the Rangers in Arlington tonight. There is now a glaring need for a consistent starting pitcher at the back of the rotation. Valdez hasn't been real good, Peacock has fizzled, and Urquidy has been a gigantic disappointment. Zack Wheeler's (Mets) name has been mentioned for a possible acquisition.

Astros wrap up their Angel series tonight. Lots of rumors swirling about potential acquisitions before July 31.

That cloud of dust you see in the rear view mirror is the Oakland A's coming hard.

That's why the Astros just need to take care of business. Back end of the rotation needs a new starter.

Well, looks like Urquidy and Armenteros came through in a big way. Although the latter had to go back to the minors (so that the Astros could return Aldemys Diaz back to the lineup), it was definitely a clutch moment when Houston needed it. The trade deadline, meanwhile, draweth nigh.

Oh, GS, about that cloud of dust? That's the Astros screeching away from the A's. It's now 9-0 in the bottom of the third.

All part of the A's long range strategy. The plan is to lure the Astros into a false sense of complacency by staging an incompetent performance in the first game of the series.

Tough loss last night. Miley was superb, but in hindsight, Hinch should’ve pulled him after 8 or at least after the first base runner in the 9th. I know we all wanted him to finish out the complete game.
