Pitcher Jaye Chapman is one of the players going from #Braves to #Cubs in Maholm-Johnson deal, source says.
Chapman is a 25 year old reliever. He strikes out a lot of guys and, unsurprisingly, walks a lot of guys. He's probably a 8.5 K/9, 4.5 BB/9 4.50 ERA kinda guy. Or kinda like Kevin Gregg

Arodys Vizcaino is the other.

Source: Vizcaino and Chapman to #Cubs for Maholm and Johnson.
Vizcaino was one of Atlanta's top pitching prospects before having Tommy John surgery in Spring Training. He's a plus arm but losing a year of development that he really needed might mean high-leverage reliever is his future.

RT @TBrownYahoo: And Dodgers get League for RHP Bawcom and OF Landry.
Bawcom is a minor league right-hander. He's 23 and in AA. He's had some huge K rates in the low minors. A good k-rate since moving to AA this year. He walks a lot, but not an ungodly number. A minor league reliever

Landry is a 23 year old CFer. He's got some speed and a little pop. He doesn't K too much, but doesn't walk. Not sure if his D will keep him in center. He has some potential, but is far from a sure thing.

League is a good, not great reliever. Not sure why Ned thinks we need him other than he loves veteran relievers.

Bawcom was 57th and Landry 27th on this list of Dodger prospects

Pretty meh trade. Don't think this helps us, don't think it'll hurt us.

The big remaining questions left are where will Ryan Dempster wind up------Cubs need to move him to the Dodgers and at least get something----otherwise he leaves as a free agent.

What will Phillies do with Victorino and Pence-------will they also possibly move Lee and Blanton? Looks like they are going to give Dominic Browne a shot, and may be setting up some off season free agent movement.

It looks like Theo Epstein is injecting some young talent into the organization------if he can get a couple of other prospects for Dempster and Soriano maybe down the road the Cubs can have something. I know Cubs fans dont want to hear the word patience, but with the acquistion of Rizzo, the young talent from trades, the signing of Soler, and maybe a couple of judicious free agent signings in the offseason, things can get interesting at Wrigley.
