Ridiculous, of course.

Also ridiculous, Jimmy Rollins of the Philles. Jared Cosart, Clint Barmes and Brandon Crawford would have all been better choices

Carlos Gonzalez is also not good

NL ROY
1) Bryce Harper - 112
2) Wade Miley - 105
3) Todd Frazier - 45
4) Wilin Rosario - 12
5) Norichika Aori - 11
6) Yonder Alonzo - 1
7) Matt Carpenter - 1
8) Jordan Pacheco - 1

The right guy won. It was closer than it should have been.

Aori and Alonzo were under represented. Miley was over represented.

AL ROY
1) Mike Trout - 140 (All 28 first place votes)
2) Yoenis Cespedes - 63
3) Yu Darvish - 46
4) Wei-Yin Chen - 2
5) Jarrod Parker - 1

Trout deserved to win the award unanimously. He was the best player in the majors in 2012. I would have taken Darvish handily over Cespedes. Nice to see Chen get a bit of recognition. He had a good year.

Shows us that Darvish doesn't understand the value of pr as well as Cespedes does. Remember that promotional video Cespedes made showing himself doing all that Uberman stuff when he was marketing himself to MLB?

Hard to really argue either selection.

Interesting that Price squeaked by Verlander and Dickey beat Kershaw easily.

I had Verlander handily in front of Price and Kershaw and Dickey about even.

Default Cabrera and Posey MVPs

Quote:
Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera won the American League's Most Valuable Player award after becoming baseball's first Triple Crown winner in 45 years, beating rookie phenom Mike Trout by a much wider margin than most anticipated.

Cabrera received 22 of 28 first-place votes and 362 points from the AL panel of Baseball Writers' Association of America. Trout, the record-setting center fielder of the Los Angeles Angels, had six first-place votes and 281 points. Trout was voted AL Rookie of the Year earlier in the week.

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre finished third with 210 points, followed by New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano (149). Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton finished fifth.

This had shaped up to be a clash between the sabermetric community which was championing Trout, and the traditionalists who were more impressed by Cabrera's Triple Crown. Recent Cy Young voting had been reflective of sabermetric gains in influence, but it wasn't enough on this vote.

Quote:
NEW YORK -- Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants was voted the National League's Most Valuable Player on Thursday after returning from a devastating leg injury and becoming the first catcher in 70 years to win the league's batting title.

Posey received 27 of 32 first-place votes and 422 points from the Baseball Writers' Association of America, outdistancing 2011 winner Ryan Braun of Milwaukee, who was second with 285 points.

Pittsburgh outfielder Andrew McCutchen (245) was third, followed by St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina (241).

I was surprised that Braun finished second, I was figuring that the writers would be in a mood to punish him for winning last season while on PEDs.
