I like the A's they are one of my teams I like to pull for, if there is a A's vs Royals game and a Yankees v Sox game I'd rather watch the A's. I have MLB.TV so I catch a lot of A's games. They do need a new ballpark though, what are the possibilities of that happening? probably very small.

not very likely in Oakland.. Ownership want to go to San Jose but the Giants have the territorial rights and won't give them up. even though they have an awesome waterfront park in S.F.

In the A's last period as winners, '00-'06, having a big second half of the season was the standard m.o.

Years-First half winning percentage/Second half winning percentage
'01 .506/.773
'02 .568/.716
'03 .581/.609
'04 .547/.579
'05 .506/.587
'06 .511/.649

They broke the pattern in '07, and really reversed it in '08, going .537/.364

'09, '10 and '11 they were slightly better in the second half, although not very good in either half.

In '12 they are really turning it on again. They played .500 ball in the first half and are playing .846 ball so far in the second.

I think the A's key right now, besides the usual stellar pitching, is Cespedes and Carter in the middle of the order. This past month they've been Manny & Big Papi, and if they both stay healthy, could cause the A's to really do some damage to the opposition.

Carter and Cespedes have combined to produce 2.0 WAR so far in 2012. (Carter 0.9, Cespedes 1.1)

Josh Reddick and his Mom have combined to produce 4.0 WAR for the A's.

Well, I was thinking this month in particular, where they've really gotten hot. Ces has become a monster since his DL stint, and Carter has a 1.081 OPS since being called up at the end of June. Not discounting Reddick, but the other two seem to be feeding off each other right now.

I know the A's just like Milwaukee can't hold onto all their hot young players and they eventually go somewhere else it would be interesting to see a list of A's players that have been with the ball club the longest. I wonder what the average years of a player playing in Oakland is. I'll see if I can find those lists.

Don't forget to find those lists for all the other teams otherwise we don't learn anything about the A's
