Because things like Paul Janish being acquired by the Braves don't need their own thread.

The Braves have burned through 3 SS's already this season.

Rookie Tyler Pastornicki opened the season as the starter, most knew he was just holding down the fort until Adrelton Simmons was ready. Pastornicki struggled

Adrelton Simmons burst upon the scene and the Braves' SS situation appeared to be in good hands, until he broke his pinky finger

Pastornicki was passed over and Jack Wilson was named the starter when Simmons went down. Jack Wilson dislocated his pinky creating the need for Janish.

Janish can't hit, but his defense is good enough to make him a marginally useful player for a few weeks until Simmons is back.

The Braves give up Todd Redmond. He looks like nothing.

Janish was a one time semi-prospect for the Reds.

The shortstop position seems to be reverting to back where it was pre-1980s....look for a guy with great fielding ability; a BA over .230 is gravy.

Buzz on Chicago radio that the Whitesox are close to getting Grienke. I'll believe it when I see it as I don't know what the Sox have left to give.

The twitterverse is more interested in the news that Greinke will skip his next start in order to "re-charge his batteries".

You're right that the White Sox don't have much to give up. Addison Reed was one of their top prospects. While he's good, a reliever just isn't that valuable. They may have some big league offense to spare

And they are somewhat banking on Reed to be good down the stretch. He has morphed from prospect into "everyday" player just like that.

Sox are insanely thin the their pen. The #s have been ok in some metrics, but the sheer volume of inexperience in that thing is going to bite them right in the arse. The league catches up to rookies that perform well out of nowhere....

Janish can't hit his weight. Solid defense though.

I wish the Nats would trade for Dempster.

When Strasburg gets shut down I'd rather have Dempster making those September starts (who has been great this year as well) then Chien Ming Wang, John Lannon or anyone else in the minors.

Looks a lot like Dempster will be starting for the Dodgers on Sunday (in a game I'll be at because I wanted to watch Nate Eovaldi pitch).

Not in favor of this trade (to state it mildly). Dempster isn't as good as his 2 ERA suggests. LA isn't as good as their record suggests. Colletti is terrible at making deadline deals. Colletti isn't as good a GM as Theo or Hoyer.

The Rockies and Royals swapped disappointing left-handers. Jonathan Sanchez goes to Colorado and Brian Guthrie goes to KC. I was not a fan of Guthrie with Colorado, his skill set (fly balls) isn't a match for Coors field. I expect he'll have better results in KC.

Sanchez has been a mess, and as a Dodger fan I won't be rooting for Colorado to straighten him out.
