MLB.com published their top 100 prospects list. Tampa Bay's Matt Moore, an 8th round pick in 2007, heads the list:

I think you can put the top 3 (Matt Moore, Mike Trout, Bryce Harper) into any order. Those 3 are a tier unto themselves.

With Moore, Trout and Harper all performing in the majors we can't really call them prospects any more.

The new number 1 prospect, in my book, Rangers SS Jurickson Profar. Unfortunately, for the rest of the league, The Rangers already have 1 plus SS in Elvis Andrus.

The rangers have some really good prospects - I really like Mike Olt as well

The problem for the Rangers is that many of their prospects have blocks in front of them ... unless the rangers start switching positions or dealing they are going to have some underutilization

Good point about the underutilization.

Methinks the Rangers are smart enough to make some moves that will help the club.

Olt might be a better option at first than Mooreland as soon as, well, right now. But, the team won't take that risk on the brink of another world series run. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mooreland moved next offseason.

Leonys Martin also deserves a mention. Craig Gentry is a solid enough player, but he certainly doesn't have Martin's upside.

The Rangers have a few important players whose contracts are coming due. Josh Hamilton, Mike Napoli, Nelson Cruz and Michael Young's contracts are all up this year or next. Some roster space will be created.

Trevor Bauer likely to be called up by Arizona to start today.

Bauer is dominating, but has control issues.

Bauer's debut was less than stellar.

He left after 4 innings with a groin issue.

He faced 20 hitters, walking 3, striking out 3 and getting 5 ground balls. That performance has an expected runs allowed of 3.66

Bauer threw 74 pitches. 43 of them were 4-seam fastballs that averaged 92 MPH with a high of 95 MPH. 16 were 78 MPH curves. 11 82 MPH change ups and 4 90 MPH 2-seam fastballs.

Of Bauer's 74 pitches, on 3 resulted in swinging strikes; that's 4%. No qualified major league pitcher has a swinging strike rate that low this season. Bartolo Colon, Henderson Alvarez, and Kevin Correa are the only pitchers below 5% swinging strikes. Worse, Bauer didn't get a single swinging strike against his fastballs.

It's only 1 game, and a game in which Bauer might not have been at his best, but it wasn't what was expected of one of baseballs best pitching prospects.
