After sweeping the Jays in Rogers Centre, Toronto sweeps the Brewers back in Miller Park. Tough series for the Brewers and now they will play the Arizona Diamondbacks in Miller Park in a four game series. This will be a tough series for the Crew since they drop to 25-21 but at least they are still in 1st place in the NL Central though.

Maybe, but pitching to the scoreboard can be a dangerous thing. Better perhaps to stay focused on the game plan and get the work in that you can. If it's 6 innings, good. If it's 8 innings, even better.

Taking some of the charity kids to Star Wars Day at the ballpark today. Strasburg has looked good so far, but the force has not been with the offense. Need a spark from somewhere.

Prayers answered in timely fashion by Micheal A. Taylor. Bang! Zoom! And another nice bit of work from Koda Glover to seal the deal. But the major accomplishment of the afternoon may have been getting a bunch of hyped-up kids rounded up and strapped in for the trek back to suburbia. At the end of the day, it seems that a good time was had by all, so well worth the effort!

Default 30-19

They went 4-2 in the home stand winning the first 2 games of each series (during the week to Seattle, weekend vs. the Padres) before dropping the final game. They now head out West for 9 games: 3 each in San Francisco (Monday-Wednesday), Oakland (Friday-Sunday), and Chavez Ravine (next Monday-Wednesday). They could go 0-9 getting shut out all 9 games and I'd be totally indifferent with these other 4 teams. Usually these trips (San Fran-LA) usually turn out pretty badly (1-5, 0-6) so I guess this would be a nice time to get a 2-7 stretch for the year done with. Tanner Roark (4-2, 4.32) starts for the Nats Monday against Matt Moore (2-5, 5.28), Jeff "The Shark" Samardjiza (1-6, 4.50) starts for the Giants against Gio Gonzalez (3-1, 2.90) Tuesday and Max Scherzer (5-3, 2.77) and Matt Cain (3-3, 4.45) square off in the series finale Wednesday. Today's game starts at 4:05 while Tuesday & Wednesday games will begin at 10:15.

Default 33-19

Monday: Nats 3 @ Giants 0. Also known as the brawl game when Giants reliever Hunter Strickland holding a grudge for 2.5 freaking years after Harper launched two moonshots off him in the 2014 NLDS plunked Harper with a 97 mph fastball in a 2-0 game with 2 outs in the 8th. Brian Goodwin who came into pinch run for Harper after he was thrown out scored an insurance 3rd run, and the Giants had the potential tying run at the plate in the 8th and never threatened in the 9th.
Tuesday: Nats 6 @ Giants 3. Michael Taylor went 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's.
Wednesday: Nats 3 @ Giants 1. A Zimmerman 3 run homer in the first inning stood up as Scherzer went the distance with 11 strikeouts, and they never trailed in the 3 game series, scoring in either the 1st or 2nd inning in all 3 games.

Giants have Thursday off and will use it to fly to the East coast to begin a 7 game road trip to Philadelphia & Milwaukee with the first 3 in Philadelphia on Friday. The Nats will also have Thursday "off".....off from a game, but since the team is staying at the same hotel in San Francisco because they play the A's in Oakland over the weekend, the team will take a team trip across the bay to Oracle Arena in Oakland to take in game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. Stephen Strasburg (6-1, 2.94) faces off against Andrew Triggs (5-4, 2.64) on Friday, Joe Ross (2-1, 6.18) faces Daniel Mengden (0-1, 13.50) on Saturday, and Sonny Gray (2-2, 4.72) takes the ball for the A's against Tanner Roark (5-2, 3.86) on Sunday. Friday's game is at 10:05, and Saturday & Sunday go at 4:05, while game 1 of the NBA finals on Thursday goes at 9:10.

It makes sense to me to stay in the same hotel if the Nationals played in San Francisco and then to Oakland.

Jonathan: They did the same thing in 2014. Also played @ Oakland (why are we playing in Oakland 2 straight times??) and than @ San Francisco the next series so kept the hotel.

I'm not sure how often a team has played back-to-back series @ San Francisco and @ Oakland but I'm guessing its not very often. And to have it happened 2 straight times is almost a miracle.

Probably has something to do with how often NL teams play the AL West in interleague games plus how often AL teams play the NL West. If a club needs to play both SF and OAK at some point during the season, doubling them up is the sensible schedule to create.

Pub: Miami (2 games), Atlanta & Washington (3 games) all played interleague series at Oakland and only 1 (Nats) played the A's series right before or right after the Giants series. I won't be able to edit this post because it will be too long but I'll take a look at 2014 with the NL East teams; last time the NL East played AL West in interleague.
