At least it wasn't worse for Harper as he avoided a tear and should be back in time for the playoffs.

Friday: Giants 0 @ Nats 0. Postponed due to rain, rescheduled as part of a double header Sunday.
Saturday: Giants 1 @ Nats 3. After a 3 hour delay, Harper tripped over the first base bag, which looked much like Adam Eaton's injury from earlier in this season, but luckily this one wasn't as serious.
Sunday game 1: Giants 4 @ Nats 2. Giants scored 3 runs in the 2nd, 2 on Joe Panik's single, and Anthony Rendon had a 2 run homer for the Nats 2 runs in the 8th inning.
Sunday game 2: Giants 2 @ Nats 6 (11 innings). Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman, and Pablo Sandoval all had solo home runs in regulation innings. After 2 singles and an intentional walk to load the bases to start the 9th Howie Kendrick hit a walk off grand slam.

The final home interleague series of the year begins on Tuesday, a quick 2 game series against Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and the now second Wildcard leader LA Angels. Tyler Skaggs (1-2, 3.63) starts for the Angels against Gio Gonzalez (10-5, 2.59) on Tuesday, and Tanner Roark (9-7, 4.74) starts on Wednesday against Rickey Nolasco (5-12, 5.24). Tuesday's game begins at 7:05 while Wednesday's game begins at 1:05. Giants stay on the East coast, and head to Miami for 3 games against the Marlins which began Monday night with the Marlins getting an 8-3 win in the series opener with the final 2 games set for Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.

Tuesday: Angels 1 @ Nats 3. Kendrick had both RBI's on 2 solo home runs, 1 leading off the game, and Cliff pennington homered in the 8th for the Angels run
Wednesday: Angels 3 @ Nats 2. Ryan Zimmerman 2 run homer in the first put the Nats on the board, Luis Valbuena put the Halos on the board with a solo home run in the 5th, and Kole Calhoun put the Halos on top with a 2 run homer to right which turned out to be the game winner.

4 game series in San Diego begins on Thursday. Jhoulys Chacin (11-8, 4.06) starts against Edwin Jackson (3-2, 3.86) on Thursday, Luis Perdomo (6-7, 4.95) starts on Friday against Max Scherzer (12-5, 2.25), Stephen Strasburg (10-3, 3.25) looks like he will come off the DL to start Saturday in his home town against Travis Wood (1-1, 5.57 [2-4, 6.46 total after coming over from KC in July], and the season finale on Sunday has Gio Gonzalez (11-5, 2.49) against Dinelson Lamet (7-4, 4.78). Thursday & Friday games begin at 10:10, Saturday goes at 8:40, and Sunday starts at 4:40. Angels have Thursday off, and open a series in Baltimore against the Orioles on Friday.

One starting pitcher in, another starting pitcher out. The revolving door that is the 2017 Washington Nationals. Good to have this 14 game lead, so hopefully by being cautious with these injuries, we can get everyone back to full health by the time the NLDS starts against whichever team wins the Central on or around October 5.

Thursday: Nats 2 @ Padres 1. Nats only got 4 hits, but 2 of the 4 hits lead to runs. A Howie Kendrick double in the 3rd lead to him scoring on an Adam Lind sac fly, and Ryan Zimmerman had a home run in the 8th to break a 1-1 tie.
Friday: Nats 7 @ Padres 1. Scherzer got scratched and placed on the DL with the reaccuring neck problem, and Matt Grace stepped up for his first career start, pitching into the 5th inning and allowing only 2 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout.
Saturday: Nats 1 @ Padres 3. Strasburg came off the DL to allow only 4 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings, but got tagged with the loss as the Nats offense (sitting Murphy, Weiters and Lind as well as Harper out with injury) was held to only 1 run and 3 hits by Travis Wood, Kirby yates and Brad Hand.
Sunday: Nats 4 @ Padres 1. Murphy drove in 2 runs, and Gio Gonzalez allowed only 5 hits and 1 unearned run. Sean Doolittle struck out the save for his 14th save.

Both teams had Monday off, and both are traveling out of San Diego after the game. Nats head to Houston for a potential World Series preview with the Astros. Tanner Roark (9-8, 4.70) starts against Charlie Morton (10-5, 3.69) Tuesday, Edwin Jackson (4-2, 3.43) faces Mike Fiers (7-8, 4.32) on Wednesday, and Dallas Keuchel (11-2, 2.58) faces Stephen Strasburg (10-4, 3.24) on Thursday. All 3 games begin at 8:10. Padres head to St. Louis for a 3 game series against the Cardinals which also begins Tuesday night.

A potential World Series preview.....that the Nats passed with flying colors! Even with the A guys blowing the Thursday game (Doolittle 1 run in the 8th, Kintzler 2 in 9th), the B guys closed it out.

Tuesday: Nats 4 @ Astros 3. Howie Kendrick had a 2 run triple, and Matt Weiters had a 2 run homer in the 4th which was ultimately the final run of the game.
Wednesday: Nats 1 @ Astros 6. Jake Marisnick, Max Stassi, and Alex Bregman all homered for the 'Stros who were up 2-1 heading into the 8th and got the homers from Stassi & Bregman to blow it open.
Thursday: Nats 5 @ Astros 4 (11 innings). Josh Reddick and Yuli Gurriel each had RBI hits in the 9th as the Astros came back from down 3-0 in the 9th to force extras. J.D. Davis homered for the Astros in the bottom of the 11th, but luckily the Nats scored 2 runs in the top half and ended up winning by 1.

4 game series against the Mets starts Friday. Jacob deGrom (13-7, 3.49) starts for the Mets against A.J. Cole (1-3, 5.32) Friday, Robert Gsellman (5-5, 5.65) starts for the Mets against Gio Gonzalez (12-5, 2.39) Saturday, and for the double header Sunday the Mets have 2 pitchers TBD. Nats will start Tanner Roark (10-8, 4.54) 1 of the games, likely the afternoon game, with Max Scherzer (12-5, 2.25) potentially starting the other game. They'll stay at home and welcome in the Marlins for 3 games beginning on Monday. Houston heads out to Anaheim to take on the Angels, while the Mets head to Cincinnati after leaving Washington. I'll be away for the weekend, so I'll update this after the Marlins series. Friday, Monday & Tuesday games start at 7:05, Saturday & Wednesday games are 4:05 starts, Sunday game 1 is at 1:35, with the second game Sunday beginning at 8:05.

Friday: Mets 4 @ Mets 2. Yoenis Cespedes got injured and left after scoring in the first, but in a B Nats lineup missing Zimmerman, Rendon, Weiters, and Kendrick (who has been hitting great since the Phillies trade), the Mets were able to pick up the win in the series opener.
Saturday: Mets 4 @ Nats 9. Wilmer Flores finished 4-4 with 3 RBI's for the Mets, but a 4 run 1st inning was enough for the Nats to cruise to victory. 1 through 4 in the Nats lineup finished 9-18 with 5 runs and 5 RBI's, and Adrian Sanchez finished 2-4 with 3 RBI's, but had a scary situation where he collapsed after getting hit in the chest by a Jeurys Familia fastball.
Sunday game 1: Mets 6 @ Nats 5. Asdrubal Cabrera had a 3 run homer and Flores homered to get the Mets out to a 5-0 lead early. After the Nats tied it at 5 after 7, Ahmed Rosario homered in the 8th to give the Mets the lead, and then Edwin Jackson got thrown out at the plate as the tying run to end the game.
Sunday game 2: Mets 4 @ Nats 5. Brandon Nimmo homered in the 6th to give the Mets a 3-2 lead but back-to-back bases loaded walks from 2 different Mets pitchers gave the Nats a lead they would not relinquish.
Monday: Marlins 2 @ Nats 11. Jayson Werth returned for the first action in almost 3 months and had a home run, and a 6 run 6th inning turned a close game (4-1 going into the inning) into a rout.
Tuesday: Marlins 3 @ Nats 8. Giancarlo Stanton had his major league leading 51st home run for the Marlins in the first. Trea Turner returned to the lineup for the first time in 2 months and finished 1-4 with a run.
Wednesday: Marlins 0 @ Nats 4. Stephen Strasburg had a complete game shutout and went back-to-back with Wilmer Difo for 2 solo home runs in the 5th to power the offense to the sweep.

4 game series in Milwaukee starts on Thursday night. Gio Gonzalez (13-5, 2.40) starts for the Nats against Kyle Davies (15-7, 3.91) Thursday, Jimmy Nelson (10-6, 3.75) gets the ball for the Brewers Friday against Tanner Roark (11-8, 4.63), Brandon Woodruff (1-1, 1.62) starts for the Brewers Saturday against a pitcher TBA for the Nats, and Max Scherzer (13-5, 2.21) starts for Washington on Sunday against Matt Garza (6-8, 4.77). Thursday & Friday games begin at 8:10, Saturday's game starts at 7:10, and Sunday's game is at 2:10. Marlins start a 4 game home series against the Phillies on Thursday.

Can we finish this final month without any else getting hurt?? Is that too much to ask?? Can we just play the Syracuse Chiefs and Harrisburg Senators (AAA & AA) the rest of the year?? Not that the September games mean anything.

Thursday: Nats 3 @ Brewers 6. Turner finished 3-4 with 2 runs scored and Werth had 2 RBI's. Jonathan Villar and Hernan Perez finished a combined 5-10 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's to lead the Brewers.
Friday: Nats 0 @ Brewers 1. Neil Walker home run in the first was the only run of the game as the offense was shut down by Jimmy Nelson, Josh Hader, and Corey Knebel who combined to allow just 3 hits, 4 walks, and had 17 strikeouts with Hader & Knebel getting the final 6 outs of the game on strikeouts. Why send the fielders even out there?? All they needed on the field was the pitcher & catcher!
Saturday: Nats 3 @ Brewers 2. Michael Taylor homered, and Turner doubled off of Hader in the 8th to give the Nats a victory, and Taylor ended the game robbing Manny Pina of an extra base hit. Scherzer had to leave in the 5th after getting struck in the leg with a line drive.
Sunday: Nats 2 @ Brewers 7. Domingo Santana finished 2-2 with 3 runs and 3 RBI's, and Walker scored 2 runs to lead the Brewers. Nats were held to only 3 hits, only 1 between the 2nd and 8th innings, and despite winning 1 game 15-2, the Nats lost the season series to the Brewers 4-3.

Both teams head on the road for 3 game series starting Monday. Nats are in Florida where they'll have A.J. Cole (1-4, 4.50) open the series against Adam Conley (6-6, 5.02), Odrisamer Despaigne (0-2, 4.13) starts for the Marlins against Stephen Strasburg (11-4, 2.90) Wednesday, and Dillon Peters (0-0, 0.00) starts for the Marlins against Gio Gonzalez (13-6, 2.58) Wednesday. All 3 games begin at 7:10. Brewers are in Cincinnati against the Reds.

Unfortunately, my phone got stolen the other day, and my new phone isn't MLB At Bat compatible, so there go my recaps since that's where I got everything from, so these won't be much, though I probably will recap every day now instead of once the series ends.

They swept the Marlins and now have a magic number of 6 games to win the division. They next play the Phillies who they haven't seen since Mother's Day over the weekend, while the Marlins get out of Florida before Irma, and play the Braves starting on Friday I believe.

Nats over the Phillies 4-3. Doolittle 16-16 in save chances since the Oakland trade. Don't look know but with the Dodgers cold streak (1-12 in their last 13 games) they are at least in shouting distance at only 5.5 or 6 back of the Dodgers for number 1 seed in the NL, but not sure I'd like to play the Diamondbacks though who should beat the Rockies/Brewers/Cards in the Wildcard game. They seem to be peaking at the right time. Game 2 of the series is Friday at 7.

You're assuming the DBacks don't win the division, which isn't out of the realm of possibilities.
