Excellent adjustment by Leyland to use Coke to close out the game.

Yankees' lineup is primarily left-handed (Ichiro, Cano, Ibanez, Granderson) and (as we saw) Valverde is terrible vs lefties (1:1 K/BB ratio vs lefties, 4:1 K/BB ratio vs righties).

The Yankees luck has run out, no way they are winning in Detroit.

Not saying they would have won otherwise, but there were some bad calls made tonight.

In any case, Detroit has the edge and had before the series even started. But stranger things have happend.

Excellent starting pitching matchup in San Fran tonight.

Lance Lynn of the Cardinals
16% more line drives, 3% less ground balls, 6% less fly balls, and 7% less infield flies than the average NL Starter. He walks 20% more hitters while striking our 27% more batters. That leads to an expected runs allowed of 10% better than the average NL starter.

Madison Bumgarner of the Giants
9% less line drives, 5% more ground balls, 1% less fly balls and 2% less infield fly balls. 23% less walks and 18% more K's. That leads to an expected runs allowed of 16% less than the average NL starter.

Oh, what a horrible time to be without television service. In '06 I was in Amsterdam during the World Series and had to follow online whenever a hostel computer was open. The Tigers lost but it was still an exciting time. I hope they can return and bring another championship to Detroit.
