There's an old San Francisco adage that when the rain starts in October, it doesn't stop until March. That was often quoted in 1962 when there were three straight rainouts in Candlestick, and MLB said if they didn't get the game in on the fourth day, the series would be moved back to New York.

The forecast is for rain the next two days. They might have had to go to St. Louis, to get one more out.

Something that I have noticed about Giants celebrations...Buster Posey does not seem comfortable with them. He will come out to the mound to give the pitcher the traditional hug, albeit a rather understated one, and then he drifts to the margins of the scrum and keeps to himself for the most part.

This is in keeping with what Posey has demonstrated since the moment he arrived....absolute professionalism. He takes his career very seriously and does not go in for the high jinx.

Posey is also the best interview subject on the club because he is the one guy who refuses to speak in cliche talk only. He doesn't say controversial things, but he does seem to be making an attempt to be as honest as possible without rocking any boats.

I'm not surprised to see Kershaw among the best bunters, he strikes me as someone who works hard on the non pitching aspects of his job. An enemy baserunner reaching first draws Kershaw's full attention, he never allows any of them to get comfortable, taking real shots at them with hard throws, not just lobs to keep em honest.

And he is effective with his attentions, in 2012 he allowed 8 stolen bases while 12 runners were caught. Overall in his career he has controlled the running game quite well, allowing 41 steals while 38 runners have been gunned down.
