I think much of the Braves' present-day fan following can be attributed to their years of national exposure by TBS.

But how many of those likes are people liking both teams? even if they are not fans of the Sox or Cubs how many people do you think "like" both? I for one "like" every team on facebook mainly because I like to keep up with all the mlb teams.

I'm more surprised that the Washington Nationals have the fewest likes. They clinched the NL East this year. They did better than the Braves, which was an even bigger shock. I thought of anybody would have the fewest likes, it would be the Seattle Mariners(the team I root for). They haven't had a winning season since 2009, no playoff appearances since 2001, and they have never been in a World Series, and Ichiro was traded to the Yankees.

Worth noting that all but one (Texas) of the top 13 can trace their origins back to the 16 clubs of 1903.

Missing: Cleveland, Baltimore (nee St. Louis), Pitttsburgh, Oakland (nee Philadelphia, Kansas City)

Not really. The Texas Rangers originated from the 1962 expasion Washington Senators. The Minnesota Twins come from the original Washington Senators of 1903.

Proves the point; Minnestoa is the successo to an "original" team. Texas is the successor to an expansion team.

Yeah but the Nats are a "new" team so I can see that. The Nats hype bandwagon was rather annoying all year so to watch it crash and burn was kind of humorous. But I'm not surprised that Seattle has a big fan base, Seattle always seems rather passionate about their teams, the Sounders, the Seahawks, etc.

As one of my friends from the DC area said 2 weeks ago "it's so hard cheering for the Nats when the Orioles with Cal Ripken gave me so many childhood memories"

How can you NOT like the Orioles, especially with a logo like this

It makes me smile a lot. I dunno why. I can't help but cheer for them. Better than Team Walgreens, that's for sure.
