No, I've been a Yankee fan for 52 years but never much of an A-Roid fan.

I think the point is that if Alex was on the Pirates or Astros or Royals, he would just be plain old A Rod. But, because he's on the Yanks, he's A Roid. See a pattern here?

How can one point represent a pattern?

I'm not sure what you actual affiliation with Wall Street is, but this could explain some things

No, A-Rod is A-Roid because he was a cheater. It doesn't matter who he plays for.
