Rangers 2 @ Jays 12

The Cabbagetown Clobber Club went to work again yesterday. Edwin Encarnacion hit two home runs including his 7th career slam. Russell Martin and Danny Valencia went deep as well, giving Mark Buehrle more than enough offense to win his 8th.

This team is fun to watch. They're never out of a game.

Rangers 4 @Jays 0

Yovani Gallardo took the thunder out of the Jays' lumber while extending his scoreless streak to 23 innings. Any ball Toronto squared up was right at somebody.

Rangers got dingers from Moreland, Chirinos and Odor.

Rubber match in the series goes this afternoon.

Rangers 2 @ Jays 3

Toronto made the most of four hits and the maligned pitching staff got 'er done. Drew Hutchison continued his fine pitching at home where his ERA is about 2.35. On the road, he's been terrible, with an ERA over 8.

Josh Donaldson his hit his 18th homer of the year. Chi Chi Gonzalez was the hard-luck loser for Texas.

Next up, 4 at home against the Red Sox.

Bosox 3 @ Jays 1

Those smokin' Jays bats have cooled right off the past three games. This time Clay Buchholz did the trick, as he has so often in Toronto. In 15 career starts at the Rogers Centre, Buchholz is 10-3 with an ERA of 2.21.

Tonight, we'll find out if Marco Estrada still has his mojo going for the home team.

Well, Boston picked a fine time to start getting right.

Not.

Fortunately, the other East teams lost last night.

Bosox 2 @ Jays 11

The thunder returned to Toronto's bats as they slugged 16 hits, including 5 homers, to send a full house home happy on Canada Day.

Jose Bautista broke out of an 0-24 slide with a home run and double. Justin Smoak hit a couple of monster shots, one from each side of the plate. Double E and Donaldson added dingers while Mark Buehrle continued his recent fine outings, going 7 and allowing only a single run.

Starter and loser Rick Porcello only lasted two innings and gave up 7 runs.

Chance to split the 4-gamer tonight before a 10-game road trip takes them to the All Star break.

Bosox 12 @ Jays 6

Spot starter Matt Boyd couldn't record an out and the Sox scored 8 in the first inning. Turns out it was enough.

Yuck.

Jays 6 @ Tigers 8

You'd never guess from the final score that one of the starters had a no-no going into the 8th. But that was the case with Detroit's Anibel Sanchez.

Ultimately, the big story was Miguel Cabrera injuring his calf and leaving the game. Early reports expect him to go on the DL.

Drew Huthison's road woes continue. He didn't get out of the 5th and gave up 7 runs. Didn't help that the usually-reliable defense played some butcher ball.

Today the Jays get to look forward to facing David Price, a guy who's had their number since forever.

Jays 3 @ Tigers 8

David Price improved his career mark vs the Jays to 16-2.

Ho-hum.

And today we get Verlander.

Sometimes the baseball gods frown....

Jays 10 @ Tigers 5

The Jays got to Justin Verlander in the 5th for 6 runs and blew open a tight game. Marco Estrada got the win on his 32nd birthday.

Bautista and Smaok went deep for the Jays.

Tonight they get to admire Chris Sale's work, so I'm glad they salvaged one of three in Motown.
