Phillies 1 @ Jays 7

What happened to Troutdude?? Doesn't feel the same without him doing the summaries.

In his first game in a Blue Jays uniform, Troy Tulowitski, hitting leadoff went 3-5 with 2 doubles and a monster homer to CF that landed in the second deck. Got a strong outing from R.A. Dickey to cruise to the victory. Word is out this morning that the Jays are the favorites to land David Price. Not sure I like giving up Daniel Norris for a pure rental, but if Price helps them get to the playoffs (even the Wildcard game) for the first time in 22 years I'll take the deal.

Thursday opens a 4 game series with the new-look and AL leading Royals. Danny Duffy takes the ball for the Royals, and as a LHP the Jays hitters should be licking their chops while Marco Estrada takes the ball for the Jays. Game time slated for 7:07.

Royals 2 @ Jays 5.

Score from Wednesday was actually 8-2, not 7-1 as I had posted, we need Troutdude back I can't even do the score updates correctly!!

Marco Estrada gave up 2 runs in the first, all 2 runs coming after there were 2 outs. Jays got their 5 runs in the first 4 innings (1 in the 1st, 3rd & 4th, 2 in the 2nd). Dioner Navarro 2 run homer in the second gave them a 3-2 lead which they never looked back from. Today, the Jays added to their bullpen acquired reliever Mark Lowe who has about a 1.00 ERA, and got Phillies OF and leadoff man Ben Revere. This is gonna be an even funner team to watch now that they actually have a leadoff guy and can put Tulo back in the 3 or 5 spot instead of leadoff. Revere is a guy that almost NEVER strikes out either. ESPN stats & information posted something earlier this year that said something like 145 players have more strikeouts then Revere has swings & misses, so that's a huge plus for the team too.

Friday's matchup has Jonny Cueto's first start in the AL as he takes the ball for his new team the Royals, and will be opposed by Drew Hutchinson. Game time slated for 7:07.

Toronto has a 52 run lead over the next highest scoring team (Yankees) and an 88 run lead over the third highest scoring team. They're averaging almost an entire run a game more than the third team, that's crazy

Royals 6 @ Jays 7 (11 innings).

Donaldson had 4 RBI's including the game winning walk off single in the 11th.

Saturday's matchup is Edinson Volquez for the Royals vs. Mark Buehrle for the Jays. Game time at 1:07 and the Jays lead 5-1 in that one.

Saturday:

Royals 7 @ Jays 6.
Jose Bautista had 2 home runs, but the Jays blew a 5-1 lead with Mark Lowe taking the loss in his Jays debut

Sunday:

Royals 2 @ jays 5.
Donaldson & Tulowitski both got hit for the Jays, and Donaldson got buzzed twice more in the game. Even though 2 Jays got hit and they got thrown at 4 times, the only pitcher that got thrown out of the game was Aaron Sanchez in the 8th when he hit Alcides Escobar on the knee. Hitting someone on the knee, at least to me, seems like he was just trying to pitch inside and the pitch got away. I'm sure if Sanchez was really trying to hit him he would've hit him in the back. After Escobar got hit, the benches cleared. The Jays ended the game on their 3rd manager after Gibbons got run earlier in the game after one of the times Donaldson got buzzed.

Monday starts a 4 game series with the second wildcard leading Twins. Ervin Santana starts for the Twins, while David Price makes his Jays debut for Toronto. Game time is at 1:07, an afternoon start for the bank holiday.

Twins 1 @ Jays 5.

After the Orioles beat the A's 9-1 later on in the evening the Jays, Twins and Orioles are all tied for the second wildcard spot. Torii Hunter & Ryan Goins each had homers in the 2nd inning. David Price had 11 strikeouts in his Jays debut, tied for most strikeouts in a Blue Jays debut.

Tuesday continues the series with Phil Hughes taking the ball for the Twins vs. Marco Estrada for the Jays. Game time scheduled for 7:07 PM

Twins 3 @ Jays 9

First, thanks to 7express for keep the thread from sinking while I was away. I'll be around more often for the next while.

I only have a real problem with one of Alex Antholpolous' many moves - the DFA-ing of Danny Valencia. I would have kept Kawasaki in Buffalo until September and played DV at 2nd if need be. I think Muni has only seen the field once since he was called up.

Anyway, the BIG series begins tonight in NY. The first of 13 remaining games against the Yanks and they'll meet each other in 6 of the next 9. Both teams have been playing very well. Both teams can bash the ball and now, both can also pitch it. It should be a treat, like two rhinos banging heads.

I'm pumped.
