The reds and Phillies resumed their suspended 0-0 game today with Cincinnati scoring quickly to take a 1-0 victory. The winning pitcher was Aroldis Chapman who had pitched a scoreless top of the ninth.

With that appearance, Chapman has now pitched 142 innings in his career and yielded exactly 142 base runners, divided perfectly into 71 hits and 71 walks.

Tiger and Mariner pitchers combine for 40 strikeouts, 3 short of the record. A total of 407 strikes were thrown. First time ever that both teams struck out more than 18 times. Fielder struck out five times. In two games, Fielder has struck out 9 times in 11 ABs, dropping his BA by 89 points.

The Cardinals bullpen actually saved a one-run game. That's about as oddity as it gets. Not without putting four base runners on in the last two innings, including the tying and winning runs in scoring position with nobody out.

Wainwright has now pitched 29 innings without walking a batter.

That is still very far from the record, 84.1, held by Bill Fischer, Kansas City Athletics - August 3 through September 30, 1962. Fischer broke his streak by walking Ed Charles in the first inning of the last game of the season.

The White Sox game today has been postponed on account of Graupel.

An area of light to at times moderate snow showers has expanded in coverage across northern Illinois over the last hour...with some reports of even graupel embedded within this precipitation. Expect either snow or graupel to be observed over the next couple of hours before a transition over to all rain showers by mid day...but with graupel still likely to be observed as well.

This might be the first MLB game to ever be graupelled out.

[German, from Graupe, probably from Serbo-Croat krupa; related to Russian krupá peeled grain]
