They also talked about the Cubs a lot. If David Ross wants a future in broadcasting he should really learn not to be a homer.

I am just sick of ESPN period. I miss not hearing or watching my Dodgers but can live without the influence and partiality we get from the east coast and CSPN

Question here.

Is Utley HOF worthy?

I personally do not think he is. I think he's a player who had a great 5 year stretch but that's not enough to be in the HOF. I think outside of those 5 great years he was an above average player but there are tons of above average players not in the HOF.

Also, not sure how you can put Utley in the HOF as long as Jeff Kent is not. You could also make a case for Don Mattingley too. I know DM had a shorter career due to back injuries but if you're going off the 5 year stretch that Utley have then why not Donnie?

On the career WAR list, Utley has 65.6, the 94th highest total, and the 11th best by a second baseman. Interestingly, Utley is bracketed on the list by two other second basemen, Willie Randolph who had 65.9 WAR and was removed from the HoF ballot after attracting just 1.1 % of the vote in his first year of eligibility, and Craig Biggio with 65.5 WAR, who was enshrined in his third year on the ballot.

Jeff Kent doen't have as high of WAR but hard for me to see Utley in the HOF & not Kent.

Manny Machado may not be as big a boost as Dodger fans anticipate. He has not been a good shortstop.

His defensive WARs as a thirdbaseman:
2012 0.8
2013 4.4
2014 1.0
2015 1.9
2016 2.3
2017 1.0

As a shortstop in 2018 his defensive WAR is -1.3. While his offensive WAR is 4.7, his bad glove work at short pulls him down to 2.9 overall. That is still a valuable player, but not some season changing difference maker.

I don't like it. Maybe he will help them win the World Series, maybe he won't. Maybe he'll get some big hits, then allow a key run through poor defense. Either way, after the season he'll sign some huge contract and be gone.

FIVE prospects, and a couple of them actually good?
