Machado was definitely taunting the fans by grabbing his crotch.
Machado blatantly grabs crotch to taunt brewer fans

Puig did the double crotch chop when rounding the bases. I guess it could be up to debate who he was aiming it at or if that's just his thing to celebrate but we all know the meaning & intended purpose of that gesture.
Puig crotch chops, throat slashing gestures

Looks like the Dodgers are #3 & Red Sox are #1. I thought I read somewhere where this world series has the 2 highest payrolls.

Yeah, the whole complaint about the Dodger's payroll is kinda silly. I mean, it's high, yes, but it's not like they have a bunch of soulless superstars poached from other teams to buy a championship. Like, name me who their high-priced mega free agent is? There's no Chris Sale, Giancarlo Stanton, Jake Arrieta, Robinson Cano, Jon Lester, etc on this squad.

Most of the Dodger's best players are either homegrown (Kershaw, Buehler, Pederson, Seager, Janson, Bellinger, Ryu, Puig, Hernandez, Maeda) or guys that other teams didn't want (Turner, Muncy, Chris Taylor) or acquired through trades (Machado, Kemp, Dozier, Grandal).

Gone are the days of Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford, Adrian Gonzalez with those huge salaries.

I don't know. I'll decide once the teams start playing, but it's going to be hard to be interested when you have the 2 teams with the 2 highest payrolls.
Well, this years Dodgers team is a motley crew, these bums are the bad boys of baseball. Brewers were on the receiving end of that, you got close enough to smell them so I expect it left bad memories, but really, they are going to have to use every dirty trick in the book to beat the Red Sox. I expect Tommy Lasorda is pleased, that's all that really matters going forward. Think about this, LA is the second largest city in the US and for 30 years they haven't won a WS game. They are bums, don't you feel just a little sorry for them, they played the Yankees like 42 times in the WS and won maybe one or two. They got beat by the Astros for cripes sake. They need a win bad, the Red Sox can cool it this year, and save it for another day when I can appreciate it.

Wisconsin has Green Bay, 2 super bowl wins and a couple wins back in the 60's. You have Miller and Coors Light, all the cheese you can eat and Jacks frozen pizza. I enjoyed my Miller 40 oz in the brown paper bag last night, I admire your achievements, and you should too.

I remember when you had the Gusto.....

I believe Machado probably did it for that reason. But Puig is Puig. Not sure he even knows what he's doing.

You gotta love players from major markets taunting passionate small market fans. I hate the Red Sox and Verlander for the same reason. At least the Yankees would beat my A's with class.

I thought I saw Puig cross himself. Was that actually a threatening gesture? And the other gesture - I guess I'm naive; I didn't even know such a gesture existed.

That was a throat slash gesture. Dwayne Wade was fined $25000 for doing it in an nba game. It basically, well obviously indicates slicing a neck with a knife to show anger towards likely the opponents.

The crotch chop thing he did twice is something you do towards opposing teams fans which means to, well, perform oral on him to put it nicely. I can’t believe I just wrote that out. The gesture started in WWF wrestling.

Okay, I finally found the video with the throat-slicing. It's not the crossing that I saw. He did cross himself later. Interesting that the same player does both, though the crossing is more superstition and culture than religion.

So 1:58 is crotch-chopping? It looks like celebrating to me.

Dodgers & Red Sox have the top 2 highest payrolls for a 25 man roster. That's the stat I heard during a game or read.

Yes. At least the media is calling his gesture that along with the "throat-slashing" gesture.

I've long thought that MLB players should be or allowed to be more animated so I can't complain too much about it. I think it was more the context that bugged me at the moment. Dodgers were on the road. It was a game 7 in the NLCS. Puig already ripped our hearts out with that hit so why make it worse? Now if it was a game at LA in the middle of July it wouldn't have bothered me & I would have simply laughed at Puig & Machado.

Yeah, that is just what is needed, less graciousness and more confrontation.
