The Giants won an extra inning game against Colorado today which wouldn't have been an extra inning game if the umpires had not blown two critical calls against SF base runners which the replays proved erroneous.

But if the bad calls had not been made there would have been no top of the 10th inning where Troy Tulowitzki put the Rockies ahead 5-4 with a home run, and no bottom of the 10th where this happened...

Though the Houston Astros represent 7 % of the Oakland A's American League opposition, 32% of the A's 28 wins this season have been against the AL West newcomers. Oakland completed its third sweep of the Astros today, are 9-0 against them in 2013, and have outscored them 68-31.

The Angels have won eight in a row (going for #9 tonight against the Dodgers), but are still nine back from the Rangers at 23-27. They dug themselves quite a hole early this season, and with the A's getting hot and the Rangers holding firm, have quite a challenge ahead to get back in the race.

On a team which has Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer, which one is leading the club in strikeouts?

Neither, it is Anibal Sanchez with 89, which projects to 277 Ks.

Verlander has 82, projecting to 255.
Schertzer has 81, projecting to 252.

It appears to be an issue with his back and not his shoulder. Which is, probably, good.

Rockies walk Juan Uribe to face Kershaw.

Kershaw doubles in two runs.

Love it!

I see that Uribe is playing way over his head so far in his contract year. Will this cause the Richie Rich owners to re-up him for another three seasons @ 15 million a year?

Uribe OBA
2011 .264
2012 .258
2013 .384

If you don't follow the Blue Jays and have forgotten to check and see how the sans steroids Melky Cabrera is doing, he has returned to his pre PEDS production, a .718 OPS. You can't blame it on aging, Cabrera is 28, smack in his prime years.

When the half dozen guys who were dressing up as the Melkmen caught the attention of the media last year, the Giants cut a deal with them where they got free tickets to all the home games in exchange for agreeing to cooperate with some other promotions. When Cabrera was suspended, the front office simply cut off the tickets, no phone call, no e-mail, they just stopped providing them. The Melkmen web site was flooded with hate mail.

This season, trying to cash in on the idea, a group of fans have been showing up dressed as giant peas...they are the "Killer P's, because, well, there is Pagan, Posey, Pence and the Panda in the lineup, sometimes Pill. So not only are they ripping off the Melkmen idea, they are ripping off the Killer B's idea from the Astros. And of course, what is a "Killer P?"

Happily the response from most Giants fans is to boo them and complain about them on the web. As one noted “We don’t need vegetables to promote our team. These P’s are just promoting themselves”
