Now that Steinbrenner is long gone, who would you say has taken his mantle as the most larger-than-life, love-him-of-hate-him MLB owner?

Most of the teams are now owned by corporate investment groups with a designated CEO running affairs but subject to collective supervision. The age of the maverick owner who uses his prominent position to indulge in ego stunts may be over. Peter Angelos has been controversial in Baltimore, but when the Orioles started winning last season, the complaints against him seemed to have evaporated. The McCourts provided some soap opera during their stewardship of the Dodgers, but the focus on them was for off field stuff and arguing over ownership more than it was on their interest in baseball.

The Charlie Finleys, George Steinbrenners, Ted Turners and Calvin Griffiths are now the north end of a south bound dinosaur.
