I am talking about the dreaded St. Louis Cardinals. That is the team Pittsburgh has to worry about.

Congrats to Pittsburgh on win #82. But they have to get back on track. They officially have tiebreaker on St. Louis. And while they do have it on Cincy too, that hasn't been clinched. If I'm Pittsburgh, I'd obviously much rather have a division title and possible home field against the Dodgers, than on the road for the one game playoff.

The Pirates now have win #84. If the Cards lose tonight, the standings in the NL Central will be a tie between PGH and STL.

And Pittsburgh clinched tiebreaker.

All the Pirates need is 6 more wins to get to 90 wins, for the first time since 1992.

Not yet. The Pirates are still half a game back from the Cardinals, and it's only the 2nd inning between the Brewers and Cardinals. The Brewers are winning by 1-0. However, it's still early.

Tiebreaker has nothing to do with the current game. Has to do with standings. Pirates have the edge in head-to-head matchups.

Well, the current standings say Pittsburgh it 1/2 a game behind St. Louis. However, that has a chance of changing if St. Louis loses. If St. Louis loses, then it will be a tie in the standings.

And as for matchups, the Pirates play the Cubs tomorrow. As bad as the Cubs are, they almost swept the Reds(who are in contention to make the playoffs). The Pirates must take tomorrow's game seriously.

Still not getting it. Pittsburgh has tiebreaker on St. Louis. That's not hard to understand.

How if the Pirates are 1/2 a game behind? I only see numbers.
