With all the Arod nonsense going on it's nice to see something POSITIVE happen and to a really, really good and respected ball player.

Last night Ichiro had his 4000th hit in his professional career between Japan and MLB.

I think the #'s are roughly 1230 hits in Japan and 2770 in MLB... only the 3rd of 4th person in history to hit for over 4000 between MLB and "Minor" leagues.

Heck of an accomplishment.... would love to see him get 3000+ in MLB but at his age not sure if he'll stick around to try.

Congrats Ichiro!

Quite an achievment. I honestly didnt realize he made it. Joins a very select crowd and a very notable

He will get dinged on the Japanese numbers but still impressive to me

I love how some people are trying to downgrade the accomplishment because he got 1278 hits in Japan.... they think that he'd have LESS if he played her his entire career when in fact he could probably have MORE....

1278 hits in 7 years in japan (182 hits a year).
2722 hits in 13 years in the U.S (209 hits a year).

Truly remarkable stuff....

An amazing player. I don't think people generally realize how great he really is. 262 hits in a single year. 10 straight years with at least 200 hits. 5 years with 215+ hits. It's crazy how this guy can hit. He is truly an all time great, up there with Ty Cobb, Pete Rose, etc. From what I hear he will try for 3000 hits in MLB. I hope he gets it but somewhere besides NY where they don't seem to appreciate him.

Congratulations Ichiro!

Congratulations Ichiro!

I believe he has a year or 2 left on his contract with the Yanks so it looks like he'll be doing it as a Yankee... if he does do it of course...

Standing ovation. Players come out of the dugout to congratulate him. Where does this comment come from? He received basically minimal attention in Seattle while NY has provided him with a spark and an opportunity to contribute to a playoff run. I for sure appreciate what he has done for the game.

He gets ripped for production and his contract by NY fans. The day he got signed was the start to get rid of him.

Players are different. Of course they come out with such a milestone. Players know what's up. Players know and respect him. Yankee fans, not so much.

What league is the second best league in the world? I'd almost assume Japan, what other league could even come close? Dominican? Cuban?

I'm sure nobody even has the opportunity to watch other leagues but is there an accepted, generally, second best?

Baloney. Ichiro recieved plenty of attention in Seattle..it's just that the biased East Coast media didn't pick up on it..They basically ignored him and his accomplishments until he was traded to the Yankees..
