Or we should stop feeding your extremely low numbers, which you suggest that less than 1/4 of 1% of MLB players are on roids. Common

All sports are boring if your team isn't competitive. As Pirates fans are learning, there's nothing as painful and exhilirating as playoff baseball. Hanging on seat with every pitch. Closest thing to it is maybe Sweet Sixteen in college hoops and final couple rounds of the Stanley Cup.

Baseball is a very special game and always has been.

I enjoy the pace, the peaks and valleys, and the promise that this is the year that your team is finally going to break through with the new minor league call up, trades, and free agent signings.

I love seeing a pitcher throw a 98 mph fastball----I love seeing the excitement of a hitter circling the bases for a triple----I love seeing a well executed double play-----the great execution of a squeeze play-----love the tailgating prior to games----and I love the undying committment of long sufferring fans who cling to their love of their team, even though they have not been contenders for awhile.

Yes this is a day and age of immediacy and instant gratification-----yet for me baseball is a great game and will always be.

Football (and most other team sports)=checkers
Baseball=chess

Sometimes a simple game of checkers is all you want. It's easy to understand, and the payoff is immediate. You really don't to have to think to an in-depth degree, and the strategy is generally short-term.

Chess is far more complex. Things you do early in the game are premeditated set-ups for a later advantage on the way to a win. Those who understand chess, are never bored by the intricate strategies of the game.

Many people don't understand chess--or baseball.
