It's a different kind of intensity the way the suspense builds up in the late innings of a close game. You have to be so mentally tough to watch it, let alone play it. As a Boston fan, it's been painfully intense watching this World Series.

Have fun watching a game where 90% of the players stand around for 90% of the game.

Football?

I don't know, why do people who think baseball is boring constantly bring that up as if they need to prove it to us fans? If you think it's boring, then why are you even watching it enough to be bored by it?

To everyone else: I believe the reason that Football has become so much more popular than Baseball or anything else (in the US) is just because it works so very well on TV. Baseball worked really well on the radio, and still worked ok when TV coverage technology was primitive. So it was very popular then. That really changed in the 70's and 80's when it became possible to have so many cameras at once zooming in, moving around and capturing slomo. (remember 'super slomo' in 1984 olympics?) Football's popularity has been soaring ever since. I really love baseball far more than any other sport, and I always will, but even I have to admit that football is just a lot easier to casually watch from the couch while drinking beer and eating sports-fan food.

I am the least sports-watching or playing person you are ever going to meet, but I have a great respect and admiration for a great pitcher and batter - and outfielder, for that matter. I don't even know the rules for baseball!! Yet I love to watch a great pitcher as he tries to psych out his batter.

Loved it when at the World Series Red Sox pitcher John Lackey mouthed the words (referring to the batter, don't recall who it even was) 'He's my man". LOVED IT!

While your original comment is also relevant, I updated it to reflect another equally important (if not more important) reason as well...

You folks actually took the bait? There must not have been a game on, so you answered seriously out of boredom.

No game tonight, so feed away.

This thread was dead nearly 3 years. The OP was trolling. Why was this even resurrected?

too much standing by the pitcher, batter.....there should be a shot clock, speed pitching (15 secs between pitches or the batter will get a ball). If the batter is out of the box, give him a strike. Or something like that.
