I watched the Reds lose to the Pirates and the Indians lose to the Rays. These are one game playoffs where the loser is gone. If I were managing any of those four teams, I would have informed my players ahead of time that I was going to be managing the game far differently than a regular season game.

First, I would have my bullpen warming up at the start of the game. Any weakness appearing in my starting pitcher and he would be pulled. Same would be true with all subsequent pitchers. A couple of unintentional walks or two or three well-hit balls would make me bring in a new pitcher. I'm actually surprised no manager takes this mindset.
