It's better than November in like in 2001. It's possible with next year's schedule, it's possible.

I'm posting this after reading only the OP.

Should be renamed the "United States Series" or "United States Baseball Championships". Two USA-based leagues do not constitute "the world". I suspect that this will never happen because Americans consider it their game and can't face getting repeatedly trounced by teams from Asia and Latin America/the Caribbean.

Oh joy, let's rename the world series to something politically correct to satisfy the liberal left.

The major leagues have quite a few Hispanic players, and more and more Asian players. Is that world enough for people?

Gee if you want to try to impose political correctness upon baseball, why dont you start a campaign to rename the Negro Leagues to something more acceptable?

How do you guys feel about this idea to change the format of the playoffs?

I think it is more fair (and I'm a Met fan), but I'd add a wrinkle. I'd change best of 1 to 2 of 3, make round 2 3 of 5, with #1 seed getting 4 home games that round (2-1-2), and in round 3, a 4 of 7, #1 seed should get 5 home games IMO (2-2-3).

Make being #1 far superior, not mildly superior to all other seeds.

This is a very rare (historic) kind of year in the NL Central. It's exposed why there should probably be playoff reseeding. The fact the Cards/Cubs/Pirates are all going to have to eliminate each other to move to the NLCS is pretty lame.

They should reduce to 156 games* (eliminate 1 home series and 1 away series), expand the playoffs to 8 teams per league with a 5-5-7-7 format.

By expanding the playoffs they increase the post-season excitement because let's face it outside of a few teams people aren't showing up once school starts and their team is out of it. A lot of fans would still have a reason to come to the games.

The week chopped off of the current regular season could be used for the first round of the post-season, so they aren't adding any time. They lose no money because you can easily make the money back from the minimum of 2 home playoff games (even if your team gets swept, people will buy tickets for game 4 beforehand) and for the teams that don't make it there is a lot of incentive to get good. There would also be extra TV money.

*Games...teams x games.
-Division…4 x 18
-Intra-League…10 x 6
-Inter-League…6 x 3
-Inter-League “Rival”…1 x 6 (Bos-Phi, NYY-NYM, Was-Bal, Mia-TB, Pit-Tor, Cincy-Cle, ATL-Det, Mil-Min, CHC-CWS, STL-KC, Col-Tex, Hou-AZ, SD-Sea, LAD-LAA, SF-Oak)….

How it could have looked this season (standings as of 9/27/2015)
-KC v. Cle; STL v. AZ
-Tor v. Min; NYM v. Was
-Tex v. LAA; LAD v. SF
-NYY v. Hou; Pit v. CHC

The only sub-500 team is Arizona who is somehow +20 in run difference...anyways, there would have been some pretty interesting series.
