Chuck wasn't without flaw as a broadcaster, but one thing that Chuck had that I think far too little attention is given to in current broadcasters is a voice that was easy to listen to for 3 hours.

Fortunately, every time I see one of their displays in a store, I can hear Chuck imploring me to take Time out! For a tasty break, with Tastykake.

i agree. And furthermore this Erin ANdrews floosy has further shown her bimbo incompetence as a host of that lame show Dancing With the Stars. Horrible !

Me too. And Ernie Harwell, Mel Allen, Red Barber and Jack Buck. I think radio broadcasting requires more talent than telecasting.

I agree with some of the OPs observations, like between inning interviews with manager and pretty sideline reporters but I actually like Joe Buck. You want bad announcers listen to the Yankees with that bozo who exclaims thaaaaaa Yankees win. Now that guy is annoying.

Joe Buck is the biggest offender here. A casual sports fan who might want to get into baseball will turn on fox on Saturday afternoon and wonder how a guy who supposedly is the top dog in national baseball broadcasts could seem so out of it and uninterested.

ESPN's 7 (yes SEVEN) announcers ruined tonight's Dodgers Pirates game. I had to turn the sound off. And it's a DODGER DOG not a hot dog. GO back to the east coast, morons. Glad I have extra innings and can listen to the legend, Vin Scully.

Here's an idea about how a team can make money. When the team is on a road trip, open the stadium anyway, turn on the lights, set the audio volume on the scoreboard at 'stun', play "day-oh" every five minutes, invite people to bring in idiotic signs to wave, open up the concession stand for the ten-dollar hot dogs and beer, show lots of camera shots of people buying obscene food creations from a guy in a chefs hat, sell team gear at $79.95 per T-shirt. Put it on TV for three hours with the PbP announcers interviewing organizers of happy-face charity golf tournaments, have the mascot give game balls to little kids sitting in the $500 box seats next to the dugout. Don't tell anybody that there is no game in progress, most people won't notice.
