Free-agent outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury has reached agreement on a seven-year contract with the New York Yankees pending a physical exam, a baseball source told ESPN.com.

The source confirmed a CBSSports.com report that Ellsbury's deal exceeds Carl Crawford's seven-year, $142 million contract with the Boston Red Sox in December 2010.

I'll be honest, I'm ecstatic about Ellsbury. Very pesky player and has a great swing for Yankee Stadium

7 years for Ellsbury who has a history of injuries?? So what if he has a great swing for Yankee stadium?? What's that matter when he's injured for 50 games??

And really excited about the Fister trade. Great pickup, was pretty good in Detroit and pitching to the pitcher instead of David Ortiz/Billy Butler/Adam Dunn/other DH's every game will no doubt improve his numbers. And he can't possibly be worse than Dan Haren was last year. The ONLY thing that would've made that trade better is if the Nats could've sent Espinosa & Soriano over instead of Lombo & Krol.

His injuries were fluky, much like Granderson's. When he's healthy he puts up 5+ war.

Rizzo got the drop on everyone with that deal. A steal,IMO. And I'm P.O.'d the Pirates didn't do similar.

That sound was the splash that the Mariners needed to make. Recall the Jayson Werth signing in Washington three years ago.

He took Cano's money. He'll be crucified in the Bronx if he doesn't hit .350

Now I don't know about Ellsbury move. I thought he'd be a supporting player to Cano. Ellsbury+Cano on the same team would be a baseball wet dream come true. But just Ellsbury...I don't know how that's gonna work .___.
