Well, we are still left with a mystery, that of how "I wasn't true to my wife" relates to not being able to do his job as the Rangers manager.
If infidelity, which I assume is what is meant by "not true to my wife" was a disqualifying factor, we would lose half the players in the game.
By being so vague and not providing any details, Washington leaves it to speculation which might not be very kind to him.
I would conclude that there is something more than just husband cheats on wife, but on the other hand I acknowledge that Washington has every right to keep his private life private if that is his wish. By resigning from his public position, that right is enhanced.
Now I suppose the media waits around for some bimbo or prostitute to emerge and be identified as "the other woman."
At bottom, it is hard to know what to think because we have so little by way of specifics.

I don't know if a bimbo or prostitute results in a resignation. Boffing the owner's or GM's wife, or maybe a player or coach's wife... now there's a reason to get out of Dodge.
Maybe a forthcoming sexual assault charge/allegation? Ron doesn't seem like that kinda guy, but he didn't seem the type to toot cocaine at his age, either.
With so many blanks left to be filled in this story, my primary suspicion is that if the details were known, it would be something so embarrassing for Washington that he would have been forced to resign at that point due to the humiliation, or due to some particularly repugnant aspect of his conduct in this affair.
Mrs. Washington appeared at Ron's side in his press conference which suggests that they have either patched things up, or are united in an effort to keep the details from the public. If the former, then why the need for the resignation?
In any event, the media will not just let this story alone. I'm confident that as I type there are reporters out there now digging around trying to turn up whatever juicy tidbits they can find, and if there are any, they will be found.
Under Ron Washington the Rangers were 53-87 in 2014.
Under his replacement, Tim Bogar, they have gone 10-6, winning nine of their last ten games.
Guess Ron was distracted by his home problems.
