The Kingdome wasn't a good stadium, but it was the first place I saw a major league game.
There's always a soft spot for the place you saw your first game and/or grew up going to. I saw my first game and grew up watching the Phils at the Vet. So even though it was an ugly cookie-cutter bowl, the place had a lot of good memories for me....and it was kind of sad the day it was imploded.
An AL East team here would do well, especially with the rivalries that would develop with the Red Sox and Yanks and all of their fans here.
No, because despite the last two nights, the Rays tend to OWN the Sox and Yankees, especially in September for some reason. Let them unleash their wrath on the Yankees from the Carolinas, who can also support a team better than the retirees in Tampa.
I have been to a few.
PNC park is outstanding. A good deal and great views.
Progressive (formerly Jacob's Field) is right up there. Great atmosphere.
Camden Yards was done well from the beginning.
Nationals Park, although new, is pretty non-descript/plain.

True about first experience, mine was at Connie Mack Stadium, doubleheader with the Milwaukee Braves, May 30, 1961. Became a big Art Mahaffey fan after watching him set down the Braves in the second game of a doubleheader.
They should move the team to the Philly area, or maybe somewhere like central NJ. Philly once had 2 teams, and I think central Jersey is populated enough to support a team better than Tampa. Heck, I think the Rays would draw better in Scranton than they do in Tampa. AAA baseball in Scranton probably draws about the same crowds as the Rays.
That would be freeeeakin awesome. to have the AL east teams all that close. I bet Providence draws bigger crowds than the rays too since I'm pretty sure the Pawsox have the highest attendance of minor league teams, but there is no way in hell there well ever be more than 1 team past yonkers again (RIP expos). rhode island is spoken for. Do you really think people in Philly, jersey, or scranton aren't already decided on a team?
enough with the so and so minor league team draws more junk - both of those places have stadiums with max capacities of just over 10k - last year both FL teams drew poorly, but were around 17k per game on average
i'm pumped about the twins new stadium - should be in a pretty good location and will bring a real baseball environment back - with the gophers new football stadium some neat happenings there

Or around 40% capacity, on average. Marlins capacity is 37K, while the Trop was reduced from 48K to 45K. However you want to look at it, though. Unless they can improve attendance, there will be franchises moving to more supportive locales in the not too distant future. Why spend $450 million on a brand new stadium that's going to be more empty seats than anything? In this economy?

True...but even though I'm a Phillies fan first, I would also root for a Philly AL team, especially to beat the Yankees. I threw Scranton in there as a joke (just because our minor league team probably draws the same as the Rays)...we're even a small market for a AAA city.....we're more of a AA-sized city. And yeah Scranton is pretty much set in its allegiance....the Yankees (unfortunately) probably have the biggest following here, followed by the Phillies. There's also some Red Sox, Mets, and Pirates fans around too...but its mainly Yanks and Phils here.
