Currently, I just see Rollins blocking younger players in the system such as Tomlinson, Adrianza and even Arroyo. Perhaps it's just all about depth because remember the Giants had guys like Ramiro Pena and Ruben Tejada on the infield at times last season because of all the injuries. I also have seen speculation that Tomlinson or some other infielder might be traded. I hope not.
As for Morse, he was an integral part of the Giants 2014 WS winning team. A good 1st half and one of biggest HRs in Giants postseason history. He's likeable, good in the clubhouse, and a fan favorite. Plus he brings power off the bench and can play 1st base. That being said, Morse may indeed be washed up and I wouldn't bet on him making the team, but he deserves another shot..
Rollins & Morse were both minor league deals. Both ended last season working in TV AFAIK, so I don't see either one of them actually making the big league roster, so Tomlinson & Adrianza should be perfectly fine.
Looks like the Braves got short-changed here. Not sure how good Gohara/Burrows will be or where they were ranked, but wondering what the Braves were trying to accomplish?? Adding Smyly to the rotation, even though he's gotten hurt the last few years would be a nice addition to the rotation, and still relatively young (I think 26 or 27) so he should still have a few good years left for when the Braves really do compete. If they are still throwing this year out, than why give up on Mallex Smith who seemed decent when I watched them on MLB.tv last year. Confusing trade

The Braves didn't want Smyly because they already have a rotation of Teheran, Colon, Dickey, Garcia and Foltynewicz. Who gets bumped from the rotation to make room for Smyly? Foltynewicz? That wasn't going to happen because they like Folty and see him having a long-term future in their rotation. So, if they take Smyly then that means putting Folty in AAA where he doesn't really belong.
As for Mallex Smith, I like him to. I think he has a chance to become a quality starting CFer with outstanding speed. The Braves, however, viewed him as being blocked long-term by Ender Inciarte and didn't see a future for Mallex in Atlanta because of that. So, they flipped him for one very high-upside SP prospect and a medium-upside RP prospect. That is in line with their philosophy of the last 2+ years of loading up their farm system with higher upside pitchers. At this point, their farm system probably has the best overall group of pitching prospects in all of MLB.
How in the world does Brett Anderson keep getting guaranteed contracts worth millions? Seriously, the guy is basically a lock to spend the majority of each season on the DL.

Players get paid for what they do when they pitch.
When he pitches, he's pretty good.

Yes, he's typically above average when he pitches. That is exactly the problem with him, though. Since 2012, he has thrown 50 or more regular season innings only once - in 2015. You basically know that he's going to spend the vast majority of the season the DL. I just couldn't deal with that headache if I were a GM or a manager and I certainly wouldn't give him a guaranteed contract knowing he's likely to pitch fewer than 50 innings for me (not including playoffs).
