Recall reading at the time in either SI or SPORT that the Cleveland Catholic priests at Mass urged the parishioners to "Pray for our Herbie."


Koufax was a thrower at first, and then became a pitcher.


As with "Herbie," I often wonder what kind of career Tony Conigliaro would've had if he hadn't been hit in the eye at age 22.
