Bobby Cox is a brilliant manager and will get the most from what he's got, but I just don't see it as being enough.

By the way, as a Met fan, I do get "up" for the Braves and the Yankees more than for any other team. Those are two real rivals.
Very good points that I'v already thought about alot, but then I am comforted by the fact that we have some depth. I also think this ownership group will spend some money and allow the GM's (yes there we have two) to make a good trade. I know if Smolz goes on the DL then it's over. Hampton is dead weight who's already injured. Jordan Schafer seems to be NICE, it'll be interesting though.

Good Question. I'll respond when I find it (soon).

That's good to here because all the other Southern teams suck and talking with New Yorkers are more interesting than conversing with Devil Ray and Marlins guys. All of my friends in Atlanta who are New Yorkers are Yankee fans. I only knew a handful of Mets fans there. May the Rivalry continue. Thank you all for participating in this discussion, I got a test tomorrow so i'm outta here.

that's the same thing I thought, talking with marlins/braves fans i REALLY boring talking to them, because there really is nothing much to talk about.

I really hope this happen let the Braves be an afterthought to the Phills and 'ropolitans. I think the Braves will win the division by four games and the Phillies will be in third place. It'll be a long season, but in the meantime Go Hawks (stop laughing please)!

I'm not laughing, because I do think the Braves are a serious contender and people are counting them out. However, I don't think anyone in the division can compete with the Phillies offense and depth. I think the Phils take the division again, with the Braves in second and grabbing the wild card. I think the Mutts fans will be crying again after they miss the playoffs....the Mets are old, the injury bug has been biting them. Their starting pitching will be good, but they return mostly the same lousy bullpen as last year, and their offense is anemic aside from Wright, Reyes, and Beltran...and Beltran is hurt.

I know when I look at games to go to at Shea I would much rather go to a Braves game than a Fillies game.
Must be because you don't want to see the Mutts lose....

Iwas refering to Atlanta Hawks being serious in the post season (assuming they make it).

It's good to know that people don't count the Braves out, because it seems that some ESPN people don't even mention them. I read Metsblog lot (yeah, it is odd that I would do that) and only a few people seem worried about the Braves, but then again what are they supposed to say?

Wow, I never knew that there was any room for a Fillies fan to talk.
The Fillies did not earn the division. So to say that there is no one that can compete with the Fillies when it comes to offense or depth is absurd. They were blown out of the water in the playoffs...what happened to that offense?
As for the Mets bullpen...
It will be a bit different this season. They will be used less because of Santana. Remember, Glavine could rarely go past seven innings. Wagner has added another pitch. Mota is gone. El Duque might be a reliever.
No one here is stating that their team is favorite to win the division, as we all think that it will be competitive.
But then this conversation was free of overconfident Fillies fans.
