The US Army, US Navy and the Canadians played a number of Baseball games in London and the home counties in 1918, including at Chelsea's Stamford Bridge Ground, indeed King George V even turned up wo watch the Baseball.

Baseball did go through a period of popularity in parts of the UK pior to WW2 and the first Base Ball game was actually played in Surrey in England in 1749. Rounders and other variants of the sport were also popular school sports in the UK and the game is not as alien to the British as Americans think, although obviously cricket is much more popular. Saying that at one time Cricket was the national sport of the US.

The London Stadium where the Olympics were held in 2012, is sold out and the rivalry between NYC and Boston will be plated out in front of a crowd of around 60,000, as well as a large television and streaming audience.

So let them do exhibition games in the off season. This is incredibly unfair to teams in the thick of a pennant race.

It's the US Sporting organisations that are bringing the sports to London.

London has already had US basketball at the O2 Arena earlier this year, and will also host both baketball and regulsr NFL Football games. There have also been US Ice Hockey games in the past. Indeed part of the reason the US is tryiong to grow it's sports outside the US may be because they don't have the international fixtures that other sports enjoy such as football (soccer), rugby and cricket.

The UK already has Cricket and we are currently in the middle of hosting the Cricket World Cup, as well as international rugby and football (soccer).

The Cricket World Cup India v Pakistan Cricket Match at Old Trafford in Manchester in England earlier this month had over one Billion viewers worldwide, and is one of sports biggest rivalries.

The Wimbledon Tennis tornament in London also starts on Monday and England host the Ashes cricket against Australia later in the year.

You see those 5 teams, and a couple others (Everton, Swansea City, West Ham United are the other 3 main ones outside of the big 6 in England that seem to come stateside a lot) come over every year so their US supporters can see them but they are always friendly's (preseason games) because they would NEVER give up a home gate. Red Sox/Yankees is about the EPL equivalent of Manchester United/Liverpool. Both are fierce rivals, but they aren't city neighbors but they are relatively close to each other. There would be a revolt on both sides if a Manchester United/Liverpool EPL match got sent to Fenway Park.
Manchester United and Liverpool have a rivalry, however if you want to see real hatred that's Man Utd and Leeds Utd.

Leeds used to be a top team, and is a big city, and you have that whole Lancashire and Yorkshire rivalry, couple with two cities and team that really hate each other. It stil gets quite nasty whenever they are drawn to play each other in the cup.
