Default Jon Lester no hitter!

Jon Lester threw a no hitter last night against the Kansas City Royals last night, beating them seven to nothing. It is great considering where he was at 2 years ago. He was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma in 2006. This is an event to be celebrated by more than just the Red Sox fans. To be 24 and to be diagnosed with this disease, and then come back and pitch a no hitter is just awesome!

He has great stuff but I wouldn't call him a very good pitcher, he throws too many pitches and is often wild. He can be very frustrating to watch.

If I were you I would trade him now for he will kill your whip. He will never be rated higher than he is right now.

I propose $500 fines for every sign Varitek has shaken off for the rest of his career. He's caught 4 no hitters, and if it werent for being shaken off in the ninth twice, once by Schilling last year, once by Pedro in 2000, he'd have been catching his 6th last night.

Thanks for not pulling the trigger over the winter, Minnesota. Let the Mets pitching staff have the present. Red Sox Nation has the future.

Thumbs up What A Great Story

That is an absolutely incredible story about Jon Lester. I hope he goes on and has a very successful major league career. This is, most certainly, a story for the ages. It speaks volumes about courage, strength, and determination right down to the letter.

He seems to have a knack for big moments. He was also the winning pitcher in the final game of the World Series last year.

A piece of trivia: This was actually Lester's first complete game in the majors.

Maybe the best part of all is that he seems to be a guy you can like. Really enjoyed Terry Francona's comments last night. It went something like, "He's not a good kid because he pitched a no-hitter. He's a good kid because he's a good kid." Along with some other observations about how much Francona really likes Lester as a person. Nice story, and congratulations to Jon Lester.

I know to all you jocks this is probably a stupid question, but can you tell me when the final 7 games begin this year for the world series? My son will be on vacation and head to Chicago if the Cubs are in and will come to our new place is they aren't, but I need to know that dates so I can schedule. All he told me was the third week of October well ok is that the week of the 20th?
