That's exactly what the Giants just did. They signed the former Astro and Twin shortstop for a whopping 13-year deal worth $350 million. He doesn't stay particularly healthy for long periods of time, so we'll just see.

After my last post about Narvaez, I heard two sports radio hosts, on air, discussing Correa's contract, and they mentioned that one thing that some of these teams might be thinking about re these long contracts is helping avoiding the luxury tax and how successfully doing that balances out re what you're pointing out above when trying to assess value/the best product and profitability long term.
