Thumbs down How Pathetic!!!!!!!!!

How low can they get?

I saw on the news last night that the major league baseball teams are wanting the children that play a Team baseball (only for fun) to start paying them royalties for wearing thier team logos on thier shirts. Or, they have to remove the logos all together. Now how sick is that to make a bunch of children do such a thing? How would the jerks like it if all those kids just quit buying thier over priced garbage all together and quit watching the bunch of over payed babies playing a childs game?????

Now they have gone to far. These kids idolize those teams and thier players and what do they gey get for it? A LAWSUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw the same story on CNN, it is truly pathetic that MLB would even consider such an action against a kids baseball team! I have been a staunch supporter of revoking MLB's anti-trust exemption and forcing then to play on the same financial field as all the other major and minor sports. Not only does MLB want its cake and eat it too, they want to take away the cake from any person or team that doesn't play be their gladiatorial rules!

Trademark infringement is what it is. I have no problem with them prohibiting the use of MLB logos, but requesting that they stop using the names as well is a bit too much.

Even if it is a so called (Trademark Infringement) these are little children that play the game for fun and not for money, so they're not getting any kick-backs from it. These are just kids, and thats all there is to it. I've never been one to sit and watch any kind of ball game on TV, and now I know why. Ball players of all sports are only in the game for the money and they could care less about the fans. They especially don't give a hoot about the kids that look up to them.

If the kids team is an officially sanctioned Little League Team then they absolutely should be allowed to wear the logo and even call themselves the Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, etc. I coached little league for several years and all our teams were named after MLB teams and our uniforms were exactly those of the professional teams.

After reading the article I must say that I side with the MLB on this one. I think if any of you decide to read this you'll come to the conclusion that MLB is absolutely right on this.

Thumbs down still wrong!

Still not seeing it,

Sorry, but I read the article and I still don't agree with it. It all boils down to the word "MONEY", and they said it when they refered the sports as (Big Business). Its like I said before, "they don't care about the kids that look up to them as thier heroes", they just want the money. Heck, being big business it just the same as Enron did to the faithful masses who believed in them, they stuck it to them too.

These are still just children who are wearing the clotheing, colors, names/logos and who are looking up to a bunch of drug addicts and law breakers as heroes. Good Lord only knows why!

I would rather pay a 5 spotter to see these kids play this game or any game for that matter, then pay a single red cent to watch a bunch of grown up money grubbers that call themselve "Professionals". At least the little ones really put thier hearts and souls into the game. And thier biggest fans are thier Moms, Dads and Grandparents who will sit on cold aluminium bleechers and pay for a 50 cent hot dog and $1 cup of pop to wash it down. The same folks that will just give them a hug for missing the pitch or a line drive, and say "You did great out there today kiddo, remember its only a game". And not some full grown man throwing tantrem and putting his foot into a water cooler over a stupid call. Maybe he needed his Mommy or Daddy hug him and tell him, "its ok, you did good out there today, remember its only a game". Oh, I'm sorry I forgot, "ITS BIG BUSINESS", its no longer a game.

Ok, I'll quit ranting now.

I know its a tough call on this, but if you take off your "oh, for the love of the children" glasses for a moment and look at the big picture of things you'll see that baseball is right in doing what they are doing, despite the fact that a few kids may get hurt (and that really sucks that kids' feelings are in the middle of this) but those who organized the league and decided on the vendor to make the uniforms are TOTALLY TO BLAME.

i think that it is pretty stupid for mlb to do this these kids are the ones that go out and spend big bucks on there merchandise. And to a kid being on the cubs in little league is like being part of the mlb team. But the mlb will not see that they see one $$$$$$ and that is it. I understand business but this is just plain stupid.

My child is 5 years old plays coach pitch. We ended up on the Astros. No big deal he never watched another team besides the Cubs in his life. now he wants to know when and what time Astro games are on, Reason because he feels that he is a part of that team and it is a big deal to him. someone said earlier that a few kids more like a few million but to them it is all about the BENJAMINS BABY and it is sad that i have to bring my kids up in this

I don't think they could do much about teams using the names....because they'd have an awful lot of teams to go after. Think about how many sports teams from t-ball right up to college use names that are the same as some major league baseball teams. The time and cost of pursuing youth baseball teams for copyright infringement wouldn't be worth MLB's time, in reality, If they do this, then it confirms that Bud Selig is truly a moron. With baseball not being as popular as it was in past generations, MLB should be ENCOURAGING youth teams to use its names, just to generate interest.
