Default Best baseball players over the last 35 years?

I started watching baseball in 1973, that's 35 years ago. So using that time frame what is your best starting lineup you can muster, both for your favorite team and then all of baseball. Here's mine.

Boston Red Sox:

C- Fisk
1B-Yaz
2B-Pedroia
3B-Boggs
SS-Nomar
LF-Manny
CF-Lynn
RF-Dewey
DH-Ortiz

All of baseball

C- Bench
1B-Pujols
2B-Morgan
3B-Schmidt
SS-ARod
LF-Bonds
CF-Griffey
RF-Gwynn
DH-Rose (Had to put him somewhere)

I did this off the top of my head so I may be forgetting 1 or 2.

I'd be hard-pressed to put anyone over Mr. Pujols at 1B.

Oh, you're right, as good as Eddie Murray was, he's no Pujols. See I told you I would forget 1 or 2.

It's all good.

Besides, I'm a Cardinals fan, so I probably would've said that regardless of who you had at 1B (unless it was already Pujols, of course ).

I'd have no problem putting Mr. Mattingly, Mr. Garvey, Mr, Carew, Mr. Thomas, Mr. Bagwell, even Mr. Clark there before Mr. Pujols.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree.

I wouldn't put any of those guys ahead of Eddie Murray (3000 hits and 500 homers), and even Eddie never had a 7 year stretch like Pujols.

In 7 1/2 years Pujols has nearly 1500 hits and nearly 300 homers, and a .332 lifetime Batting average.

That's a good list, about the only changes I would make would be to put Ripken at SS and Sandberg at 2B, and I would put Rose in at 1B and get rid of Pujols.

That's fine. I'm still more than comfortable with my selection.
