NorthJersey.com: Yankees are happy to see Manny leave Boston (http://www.northjersey.com/sports/yankees/Yankees_are_happy_to_see_Manny_leave_Boston.html - broken link)
Go D-Rays, Go Orioles, Go Angels, Go Twins, Go Dodgers (yeah, even them), Go Braves, Go Phillies, Go Mets, Go Cardinals, Go Royals, Go Brewers, Go, Go, Go, anyone and everyone BUT the Yankees!
I'm sure Manny will just love finishing in second place in the division when all is said and done.
Probably was going to happen either way. Though I guess if he stayed in Boston there would have still been a good shot at the playoffs via wildcard berth.

The AL East is a long way from being settled, but the Sox have to win on the road at some point to catch the Rays and to hold off the Yankees.
Well, Manny does have a shot at the division since it's stayed close since he got to LA, so you can imagine how he must be feeling -- or how he'll feel if the Dodgers do finish first. It's them and the Diamondbacks jockeying for first. Forget that the West is weak; at least, they've got two teams that are worth looking at, and with a marquee player to help the process. I'd stay tuned for this. He's been hitting well since his first game there. Plus, I heard Jim Rome talking the other day about a fan excitement not seen in Los Angeles since Fernando Valenzuela was a rookie.
Oh, and we'll also see if Joe Torre makes him cut his hair soon.
Manny Gone -- Will It Make A Difference In Boston?
And as for the AL East, well, it's the Rays and the Red Sox. This will be, arguably, the most intriguing of all the races at the moment. And anything can happen in seven weeks. It's also possible the Rays might not hang on, but right now, they still are. It's just still too early to say whether the second-place team in the AL East will get the Wild Card, Manny or no Manny. Look at the Twins and you'll see what may happen.
well duh..I mean. Manny was pretty much a Spankees KILLER
Doesn't matter. He's a free agent at the end of the year. A close friend of his said he wants to play for the Yanks next season and he'd love to stick it to the Red Sox 19 times a year. Plus, he's from Washington Heights, which is right across the Harlem River from the Stadium. He has friends and family here.
Bobby Abreu's contract is up at the end of this year and Matsui can just get lost. In a big situation, I'd rather have Manny at the plate than Matsui. And the Yanks are really the only team who will be willing to pay his requested $80-100 million for 4 years after this season... And his agent's Scott Boras. Scott Boras doesn't deal with sissy money. Also, Manny's 36-years old... He's a horrible outfielder and he knows he'll have to start DHing, so the AL would be the best bet for him next year.
I suspect he'll be in a Yanks uniform next year and I'm crossing my fingers.
