Baseball will NEVER have a true salary cap. That's a guarantee. Maybe higher fines for the Yankees, and whatnot, but certainly not the way the other major sports have it.

What are your reasons for saying there will never be a salary cap? It actually seems inevitable to me since the NFL is doing so well. Baseball would do itself some good by ridding itself of the mindset that it has to appease the big markets and television audiences. One of these days they will realize that their thinking is flawed and that it will pull in way more people in general across the board if people think their team has a chance.

You can't have a salary cap without having a salary floor.
