I think it's more about the Phillies playing against essentially the biggest "Cinderella" team in recent memory and that, despite the Rays having a better record than Philly this year, they're still looked at as an underdog. The casual fans always root accordingly.

As a Yankee fan I'm not really rooting for either team. But I'm kinda rooting for Tampa Bay. Although they are a division rival there is absolutely no reason for me to hate them and playing them up until this year was like an extra 30 home games on our schedule.

They are a nice story. Young, fun team, winning for the first time in their pathetic short history, they play in a dump, etc. In conclusion they are hard not to like.

That's funny. As a Braves fan I think it'll be good if the NL East got this.Go Philly.

Kind of a strange time when neither Yankee or Brave fans have their teams in the playoffs, isn't it?

Yes, it really sucks. It's like having the power go out for three years.

Here's maybe why...

Blah blah blah. This same nonsense goes on everywhere. See my post above. Such embellishment.

Its a greater story than the Phillies who have been winning consistently since 2003 and have had the NL MVP in the last 2 of 3 years. The Phillies have a much higher payroll than TB.

Please stop putting a target on your back because nobody else is. The woe is me Philadelphia fan is getting really old. For such a "tough" city you guys play victim too much.
No. I really could care less about being a "victim". Thats not the point of the question.

On 2 different national polls Philadlephia was completely shutout(47-3). I was interested into seeing what might be behind the rationale of zero national support. We can take the unbrotherly love , I'm just trying to wrap my arms around why the state of Idaho vote 84% for TB. The states of NY +MD vote pro Tb + LA despite it being a border state with PA.

If it were TB vs. SF I dont think the only state voting for SF would be California. If it were TB Vs Cubs I dont think the only support for Chi would be from ILL/Ind.

I can see why you think I am being defensive(I'm really not) I'm just trying to make sense of it.

So far it sounds like the fanbase may be the biggest culprit.
