(sidenote) 5'1'1inches , 195 lbs was a good sized player back then.
In that time era, some high schools had their 5/11 guy play center on the basketball team.
Our town,in the 50's, had a resident who was 6ft 6
Kids made jokes cuz his height made him a celebrity.

Jerry Zimmerman, backup catcher with the Reds (1961) and Twins (1962-68). His career numbers were amazingly unspectacular (.204 BA, for instance), although it's also true that before Johnny Bench, catchers were only expected to handle the pitching staff, not dominate the team. He did get into two World Series, in 1961 and 1965.

My favorite bat as a kid was an Adirondack 32 oz. black & white with Joe Adcock's signature on it.
Mark Belanger - defensive whiz with the Orioles from 1965-1981. When he retired he had the highest career fielding percentage for an AL shortstop.

Mike Easler - LF and DH notably with the Pirates and Red Sox. Didn't see much playing time in his first 6 seasons. Then, when given a chance, hit .338 for the Pirates in 1980.
