8X all star catcher - Lance Parrish - hit 33 HRs for the 1984 Tigers who won 35 of their 1st 40 games. That stat still blows me away.

1955 AL rookie of the year - Herb Score - Struck out 245 batters. In '56 he bettered that total and also won 20. Early in the '57 season he was struck in the face by a line drive and never regained his form. His career was from 1955-1962 with the Indians and White Sox.

Not a baseball player ( was commish of MLB in the 80's ) but IMO, one of the best commissioners the game has had in a very, very long time ( sorry folks, I'm NOT a fan of Selig. )
I had to throw this one out there because of the rare last name starting with a U and don't think I remember his name ever being brought up before in a baseball thread here on C-D, and don't think a lot of baseball fans ( even those that were following the game in the 80's ) remember Ueberroth all that well.

1986 NL rookie of the year - Todd Worrell: Saved 36 games that year. He did pitch in the 85 post season, but was still eligible for rookie status in 86. Brother of Tim Worrell, but everybody knows that.
