***Think about This***
I am a die-hard Yankee fan and even though I like AROD's final stats at the end of the year, I am not a big fan because he never gets those hit when we really need them. Now here's the question:
Yes,people in the 70's,80's,and after have been proven to use performance enhancing drugs. Now my question is how do we know that in the 60's or before that there wasn't a product that was being used for similiar results?I personally think it probably didn't happen and if it did it most likely wasn't used by quite as many but you never know!

I think that player stats over several seasons might reveal the existence of such substances. Remember Sammy Sosa...who was good for 20-25 home runs a year. Then all of a sudden he was smacking 65 and 70. Check the Baseball Encyclopedia for things like that in the 60s, or even earlier. As you said, it's unlikely.

We see this all the time especially with a guy like Brady Anderson all of a sudden for one year hitting 50 or like Luis Gonzalez. Also how could we miss the change in physique with Bonds(from his Pirate days),or McGuire. What about Creatine also? I know guys who in 5 months added 30 pound of muscle when they used it religiously.

I'm a long-time Yankee fan who has read almost every book in existence about the team's history. Before performance enhancing drugs were invented other forms of cheating were practiced. Whitey Ford (with Yogi's help) would cut the baseball to make it do strange things. And we all know about Graig Nettles's corked bats. But I think we can safely assume that similar things were done by opposing players as well.
